what about the $200,000 tax break for the family?
Isn't it supposed to be $250,000? Or did I miss something?

1. I caught that too - thought it was $200,000 for one person, $250,000 for family.

2. I believe if you make between 200k-250k there is no change.
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 08:30 PM by Indiana_Dem
Looking at a graph I have in my memory, if you make something in between those numbers, you don't get a tax increase or decrease--everything stays the same. Don't quote me on that but that's what I understood.

on edit again: it's not really a tax increase for those over 250k but he will actually "roll back" the tax break back to the way it was under Clinton. I believe it was said it was actually about the same or less in tax than under Reagan for those making that much money.

Those between $200,000-250,000 will stay as they are.
Those under $200,000 get a tax cut.

4. Are you worried out this? Do you make $225,000? You do realize it's flat there
i.e., no tax increase?

What is your point?

20. under 200,000 gets a cut..
between 200-250,000 stays flat, and over 250,000 goes back to the tax rate of the Clinton years..or pre-Bush.

12. I have a pretty good feeling that you don't make near the 200 mark never mind
the 250, I am well above both and I for one have NO problem in paying more taxes....as with most of us and thats a fact, we waste so much, I would much rather it be going to people who need it, I voted for Obama Biden and am very proud to call myself a real American, one who cares about all of us, not a select few...

17. Tax breaks end at 200K; rollbacks start at $250
so depending on what he's talking about, those are the benchmarks.

19. I found a VERY recent article where the author of it says tax cuts for those making less than $250K:
"He notes his tax proposals would reverse cuts passed during the Bush administration for the wealthiest taxpayers and use the revenue to cut taxes for workers earning less than $250,000 a year. Obama says that means a tax cut for 95 percent of taxpayers. McCain wants to extend all the Bush-era tax cuts, including those for wealthier Americans, and says allowing any to expire would amount to a tax increase."

21. Thanks for clearing that up for me
It was a wonderful half hour "infomercial"-let's hope it persuaded those undecided voters to vote for Obama- there are a lot of "undecideds" out there.
