I spend so much time on Freeper message boards fighting with them. I don't know why, I'm sure it's cathartic on some level.

But it's futile. And they (the hard-core, hateful, racist nutjobs I duke it out with) aren't going to change their mind and I know it. They are lost causes.

Listening to Barack Obama, tonight, made me wonder for the first time why I waste my time doing something so stupid when there are real people with real hearts and open minds in real pain and need that have so much less than I do, all over the country. He made me wonder for the first time how much I might have to offer to make something better for someone else. I don't mean money, I mean ideas and participation and work. And he made me just see things from a different point of view when I didn't even realize I needed to.

To say this is the most important election in my lifetime is an understatement. He's not a politician, he's something so much better.
