1. And, if he wasn't the first black man running against an old white man,
he wouldn't have had to raise so much money and outspend his opponent either.

4. In the movie, " Heat of the Night"
Mr. Tibbs (black cop from up north) goes with the white pot-bellied sheriff to see a rich white old white man living on a plantation. Mr. Tibbs says something to make him mad and the rich guy slaps Mr. Tibbs and he slaps him back. Then the old rich white guy turns to the sheriff and asks, "Why didn't you shoot him!"

Sheriff replies, "I don't know." Back in those days (when I was a kid), it would've been perfectly okay to do so and no jail time or charges against the white guy.

We haven't come too far from those days that's for sure. It seems the MSM just wants to whip up things better left in the past. However, with the crowds McCain and that crazy lady seem to attract seems to bring out those white old man plantation types.

11. Mr. Tibbs slapping that old, nasty white man was the best part of that movie for me.
"However, with the crowds McCain and that crazy lady seem to attract seems to bring out those white old man plantation types."

Shameful, but ain't that the truth.

5. it allows him to make his case directly to the voters
and not be dependent on getting an honest take from the traditional media and the traditiional media doesn't like it when they don't get to be the gatekeepers...here's to the further diminishing of their influence over the electorate...

7. I think the traditional media is at a loss
The lack of ability of the news to be a trusted source of information to the people has hurt them. Both candidates have basically ignored them to try to take their case directly to the people. People for the most part have been happy when they do it. The media needs to erase the he said, she said fake balance format that it currently operates on and get back to reporting the facts regardless of how good or bad they make candidates look. Until the regain the peoples trust, don't look for the people to judge Obama or even Palin to negatively for basically ignoring the media.

14. You know, I think Bill Clinton did something like this back in '92.
It was called the Man from Hope or something like that and aired a few days before the election, maybe the night before. Obama is not the first to do it. I heard one of the talking heads today say that Ross Perot did this as well but I don't remember that.

I lived in Missouri back then, though, so I wonder if that ran nationwide back in 1992.

to make your evening memorable. If Obama wins, remember this, God really really wants you to "revel". Look up the definition and go for it!

John King finally blew the secret by reporting that the secret service had shown up at Biden's house but they were all pissed for awhile before that because Obama was keeping them guessing, had no leaks and was making them wait. They hate it when they have no control. Crybabies.

24. CNN Turned it down, had McCain on L.King instead. Dan Rather >>
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 09:25 PM by TexanDem
of all people (as a guest on L.King show) talked about how McCain was at his best and it's too bad the big audience didn't see him (lol -they were watching Obama!) that if they had seen him, it would help McCain close up gaps. Said Obama's message was good, but music over the top -- Damn, thought Rather was on our side! Anyway -- CNN made damn sure McCain got at least equal FREE TIME!! Maybe he got more than 30 minutes - dunno. I didn't watch.
