To clarify, I don't mean we would be better off if Obama was a "communist." However, Marxist social theory and economic critique of capitalism is dead, dead accurate. He failed when it came to imagining that post-capitalism would naturally evolve into a "socialist" utopia. But he was right about much of his critiques.

What Obama really is not is a Plunder Capitalist. What Obama really is is a Sustainable Capitalist. The only way a market economy works well and stays healthy - hell, the only way anything ever works well - is when the system has a healthy structure of checks and balances that limit excess, and soften inadequacy and create a stabilizing force for long term profitability rather than these short term spikes of extreme profit taking by plunderers who are destroying the economic system long-term for the sake of their own short-term extreme gains.

Long term profit at a sustainable rate vs. short term raping of the economy for short term extreme profits for a few that will crash the system. Those are our choices. It's not rocket science.
