I did not know this. Holy crap.

So near to the seat of power. I think I have to pee.

But this is the best part -- Sarah's mom-in-law isn't sure who she's voting for in November and kind of likes Obama. Yeow! Now, there's a maverick for you.

Probably has to do with the fact that mom-in-law ran for mayor of Wasilla after Sarah was term-limited out and Sarah refused to support her because she didn't agree with her position on abortion.

Palin's live part time in Palm Desert

To Palm Desert Country Club residents, Jim and Faye Palin are the nice couple who come down from Alaska to spend winters in the desert.

The Palins are also the father- and mother-in-law of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who on Wednesday accepted the Republican Party's nomination for vice president at the party's national convention in St. Paul, Minn.

As first reported on mydesert.com on Wednesday, the Palins, who live full-time in Sarah Palin's hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, bought their Palm Desert winter home in 1998, according to Riverside County property records.

“They are both very nice neighbors,” said Rita Miller, who lives across the street from the Palins' Coachella Valley home on Tennessee Avenue.

“Just nice people, really nice,” Miller said. “(Faye) is very energetic. They both play golf.”

Faye Palin has made news locally on at least one other occasion — in Desert Sun golf columnist Larry Bohannan's Golf Notes. On Feb. 12, she shot a hole-in-one on the 147-yard par-3 sixth hole at Sunrise Country Club in Rancho Mirage.

When Jim Palin talked with pride of his son and Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, it was often for his snow machine racing prowess, not any political prestige, Miller said.

Todd Palin is a four-time winner of the world's longest and most grueling snow machine race, Alaska's 2,000-mile Tesoro Iron Dog contest.

“(Jim Palin) talks about his sons running in the races up there,” Miller said. “He's always proud of his kids.”

According to Time magazine, Faye — stepmother of Sarah's husband, Todd — ran for mayor of Wasilla after Sarah Palin was term-limited out in 2002. The now-Alaska governor did not endorse Faye for the spot, reportedly because Faye is a registered Democrat and the two have different positions on abortion. Faye Palin did not win that election.

The New York Daily News also has reported that Faye Palin enjoyed Barack Obama's speech last week and that she wasn't sure who she would vote for in November.

“We don't agree on everything. But I respect her passion,” Faye Palin told the Daily News.

1. On the flip side, Obama has the nicest, most supportive in-laws anyone could ask for.
Speaks volumes about both of them.

3. Real "family values" there: she won't even support her mother-in-law's run for
the same office she held, because she disagrees with her on one issue.

5. well if you meet them
tell them I THINK they are complete FOOLS for letting their son quit his senior year in HS to "support the baby". If they were good and decent parents they would have done everything in their power to make sure he finished HS. Then he could ship his ass off to the oil fields.
