It says much about Obama that he can even make Indiana close and I am very proud of him for that.

The reality is McCain will win Indiana there is simply not enough open minded people in this state yet to turn it blue.

I work in a local union run factory and Racism is still a huge factor. Many of the white working class here still believe that minorities are the cause of all there ills. They think the only reason why they have not moved up the economic ladder is because some minorities took their good paying jobs they were somehow entitled too and they have to pay for their welfare, etc.

Many also believe those crummy emails about Obama being Muslim terrorist who was not even born in America etc.

Its racism pure and simple here.

Indiana is changing but you cant change ignorance and stupidity overnight.

Thank God much of the rest of the country has evolved beyond hatred.

6. I grew up in IN and I think Obama will carry it. There are a lot of Racists and Ignorant ppl there
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 07:56 PM by SweetieD
but I have faith that people in Northernwestern IN and people in Indy and the college towns will pull this election through for O. My old county in Southeastern IN during the primaries only gave Obama 20%, let me repeat that 20%. So, I don't expect rural counties to go big for Obama, for obvious reasons, but I think even if Obama could get 30-40% of the vote it would help him to carry the state.

7. Most recent polls show a tie or an Obama lead, so I agree with you. Plus turnout in early voting is
much higher than usual.

9. You are overestimating the racists who are a dwindling minority
Fact is, Obama got more votes than all of the Republicans combined in the primary. Hillary beat him by a smidge, but most of those votes will go to Obama anyway.

10. I have a good working class friend in Indiana who is talking the anti-Bradley effect there.
He says people who previously who would have never voted for a black man are allowing economy to trump racism this time. He says many are saying things like , "Well, guess I'm voting for
the ni---r." But, at least they are voting the right way. He says the R's are worried as hell. Gonna be very close, but if enough minorities who NEVER voted before do so this time, then there's a very good shot. The unions are working hard for the Dems there too.
