A republican apoligized to me today.
I work with this person and like them very much but they come from a hard core republican lineage that makes it hard to "buck" family.

I pleaded with this person in 2004 to do the research before they voted for shrub. They voted for shrub anyway and I just chucked it up to people are too lazy about this stuff and moved on.

I was informed that "they did the research" this time and they love Obama - AND will be bucking the family tradition this time around. They even apologized for voting for shrub twice because "they just didn't know".

I post this story only as encouragement to everyone to never give up...eventually people will do the research if you keep working at it and when people are informed - they will make the right decision.

2. I love this story. I had the same experience with a very RW friend
in June. I begged her to please look at Kerry, and she wouldn't. Hardcore Republican family; voted more out of a sense of obligation than actually liking *.

In June, my daughter graduated from High School and we had a party. My friend came and 'hand to God' stated she would be voting for Obama (this was BEFORE McFailin) Said her husband would be too.

At that very moment, a huge thunderclap sounded overhead. We all rushed inside before the deluge, but I have to say, I'm still shocked.

6. My dad voted twice for Bush but in the years after 2004, I finally got enough info into him
that he realized that he was wrong and told me that next time (in 2008), to just tell him how to vote.

I already called him a few weeks ago to cash in my "vote voucher" from him and he will be voting for Obama. :) It's just too bad that we don't live in a swing state but hey, at least my entire family is voting for Obama now.

7. I hope there are thousands of stories like this, tens of thousands
I can't believe that, after the last 4 years, and last 4 weeks, that there are not a hundred thousand people out there just like these people. Maybe ten million!

Great stories,you folks!

9. My hard-nosed, NRA member next door neighbor took down his McCain yard sign 2 days ago!

I think the only thing this lifelong Republican hates more than Democrats is backing a loser like McCain.

11. It's great news, but call me whatever - I still find it very hard to forgive people who voted for
Shrub twice and say they 'just didn't know'. I have relatives who still 'just don't know', yet they vote like zombies. Drives me INSANE!!!

13. My wife and I swore we wouldn't forgive her parents.
They voted for * twice, and we swore that if, after seeing what * has done, they voted Republican again, we would simply not be able to forgive them. They voted for McCain. They honestly believe Obama is the anti-Christ. No joke. So, we hold them responsible for all Republican policies that are ruining our country. They did it to us! Of course, they don't care because they are convinced they will be raptured any day now.

:eyes:

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.

18. I find it hard to forgive as well
I got into an argument with my mother a few days ago because she was adamant that Obama is not an American citizen and is a Muslim. I tried to correct her, but she doesn't listen to anything she doesn't want to hear. It's sad, but my parents are a very lost cause.

At least they are so 'out-there' that McCain is even too left for them so they are voting for a 3rd party candidate. :D

14. My business partner and her entire family voted for Shrub twice. . . .
And after hanging out with me everyday and have civilized conversations (usually civilized!) about politics, she and the whole batch are voting straight Democratic ticket! I knew I'd triumphed when she asked me to bring her and her husband Democratic voting guides.

It can be done!
So there's 5 more for Obama in NC!
