You know I was pretty Optimistic back in 1984...
Just sayin' it's breaking now for Obama just like it did for Reagan.

Mondale started giving really impassioned speeches right before the election.

I wanted so much for Mondale to win.

Just like the passionate McCain people now want their guy to win, believe that he can win when all else tells them differently

3. Yes, Mondale was my first vote for president, but after the initial selection of Ferarro
spiked his poll numbers, I pretty much knew Reagan would win big, but that first debate made me hope.

4. Why on earth would you have been optimistic in '84? It was clear Reagan was going to win...
I'm not sure if Mondale was ever up. Perhaps my memory is scewed though, but my memory is he pretty much had a snowballs chance in hell most of the campaign...

5. He was close before and after the first debate....
Then, tail spin...

Plus there wasn't the constant drumming of 24/7 bews, no slew of polls released every hour, no tracking polls to speak of...

6. I was not optimistic at all in 1984,I remember being
stunned that someone that stupid was so popular, but I definitely saw that coming. Jr.,on the other hand, getting a second term, I never even imagined it could happen,I was crushed.

7. I don't remember if I was optimistic, but I was excited.
It was my first election, and a woman was on the ticket! woohoo!

Well, that and the look on my then-husband's face when he found out I wasn't going to vote for Reagan just because he told me to (good little Fundie wife--nah, not me).

8. Good for you!
It was my first election too. I don't think my ex-husband or any of our roomates even bothered to vote-or cared.
