PA Rasmussen Poll: O53/M46
So says a poster at OpenLeft.

A seven point lead in PA with Obama at 53% on 10/28. I'll take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Awesome number.

1. So that was the big news Ras was talking about on FAUX this morning!
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 02:52 PM by WI_DEM
Obama is just 7-points ahead. The main point is that Obama is at 53%

19. No, he told them that there was a poll showing tightening of the race but it sounded
like it was going to be very close, rather than a seven-point lead with O at 53%

11. Apparently he was highlighting the fact that it was 54/41 two weeks ago.
Obama wasn't going to win PA by 13 points anyway, and almost all of the movement appears to be McCain shoring up his side.

15. A miss is as good as a mile.
If 53% have made up their minds for that one, it's over.

18. All he did was bring the poll in line with most others
My bet is that he wanted a splash in the media so he pushed very hard to get some changes and that resulted in the McCain increase.

22. No actually other polls show Obama doing even better in PA
The respected Muhlenberg College tracking poll has Obama still up by 12 (he's led in this poll by double digits for weeks) and SUSA has Obama up by 12 in their most recent poll.

28. the 53 number is what I really care about
Obama had 54 on Oct 6 and now he has 53 (probably statistical noise) so his support about 50% appears rock solid.

34. I agree that the main point is that Obama is a little over 50%, and
This little tightening in PA we can thank our very own Murtha for opening his mouth and saying that the peoples in his area are rednecks and racists! I don't understand the reason why the veterans like Murtha, Frank and Biden said such carelessly and inappropriate statements at such crucial time!

41. That's his good news!!! THAT'S HIS GOOD NEWS!!!
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 04:52 PM by Two Sheds
Obama's lead cut in half!!! Tightening!!! Horse race!!!

Not only does Obama come out of this with a seven point lead, Rasmussen runs out of undecideds to spin with. And note, Obama doesn't lose support, McCain's is up a good bit (at the cost of having nowhere to go in this poll).

Two things happened here. Either Rasmussen is absolutely spot on...in which case the election is all but over, or he tweaked his methods to drive McCain's %age as high as he possibly could (which also drove Obama's %age up)...in which case McCain has just a tiny, tiny bit of a chance.

4. Obama at 53% is GREAT! If McCain had 40% that would leave 7% undecided...
so they'd have to go SOMEWHERE! As long as Obama is above 50%, that's the ballgame.

5. The 53% is the important number here.
This is actually better than some of the earlier polls that showed Obama with a wider margin but only 51 or 52%.

Rasmussen's poll only shows 1% undecided.

McCain has to get that 1%, and grab more than 3% from Obama to win.

I like this poll.

Obama's at 53% with only 1% undecided???? This is the best news I've seen in a while. It means that with the "undecideds" decided, Obama has a huge advantage. :woohoo:

I'm guessing Rasmussen must have pushed hard to come up with only 1% undecided. Their last poll was Oct 6 and it was Obama 54 - McScrooge 41

this is only one state poll...other polls give Obama a bigger lead...Rassmussen has to go on FOX from time to time and probably needs to bring with him some good news for the repubs....but seriously, 7 points ahead just 6 days out from the election is very good...

33. FOX News...
will say how McCain cut the lead in 1/2 in a very short period of time and he has all the momentum in the state and there is still is time for McCain to take the state which he needs to win in order to win the WH....Of course FOX will not quote the other PA state polls that give Obama and bigger lead.

Really. And this is not complacency, but almost every battleground state has magnetized our way since 2004. Pennsylvania is a Democratic state. It might be close and divided, but I really do not see McCain as having more than a 10 percent chance at it.
