It's official! Obama wins in a landslide!
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 01:57 PM by KamaAina
Would you believe 55 to 1, with 1 third party, 1 "not McCain" and four not voting?

Of course, this is at Slate, bastion of the lib'rul media...

http://www.slate.com/id/2203151/pagenum/all

Christopher Beam, Staff Writer: Obama

Because I'd rather have a president who is intellectually curious, shrewd, even-keeled, eloquent, and analytical than one whose chief campaign selling point is being unpredictable. Because I'd like to keep the number of Alitos on the bench to one. Because I think Obama will be more cautious about withdrawal from Iraq than people think. Because world opinion does matter, and the United States needs rebranding. Because I don't care about health care choice, I just want to see an affordable doctor. Because I don't want the Clean Air Act to be a misnomer anymore. Because the thought of Sarah Palin in the Oval Office makes me want to drink.

Oh, who am I kidding, demographics are destiny. will.i.am for SecDef!...

Christopher Hitchens, "Fighting Words" Columnist: Obama

From Hitchens' recent column endorsing Obama: "The Republican Party has invited not just defeat but discredit this year, and ... both its nominees for the highest offices in the land should be decisively repudiated, along with any senators, congressmen, and governors who endorse them."...

Michael Kinsley, Founding Editor: Obama, of course

1. I believe in voting the party, not the man or woman. Democrats generally reflect my views better than Republicans.
2. It's important not to ratify failure, and the current Republican administration is a failure.
3. Historically, as I demonstrated in Slate a few weeks ago, Democratic presidents have a better economic record, EVEN BY REPUBLICAN STANDARDS (lower government spending; higher GDP, ignoring distribution questions, etc.). Republican irresponsibility about tax cuts without spending cuts has bankrupted this country. Twice.

Bill Smee, Executive Producer, Slate V: Obama

I will vote for Obama, and I've written a haiku to explain one of the main reasons why:

McCain picked Palin.
Already 72.
Might die in office.

So if Hitchens isn't the mole, who is? Turns out it's Rachael Larimore, from ther women's group blog "The XX Factor". Be advised.

Note: I knew a Bill Smee at Yale (not that well, as he was kind of a jock type). Considering editor Jake Weisberg was a year behimd me there, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's him.

1. Hey K
Clarence Ray Nagin is proposing a property tax increase and the pitchforks are being broken out from city hall to the streets. Bill Jefferson is favored to win next week, and the mud is flying in the DA's race, the supreme court race and the second congressional district race. Its great this time of year. Frost on the northshore this AM and gas at $1.99 in southwest Mississippi.

2. Dollar Bill set to win again?
Great.

This is why the Orleans Parish Registrar of voters needs to send me my absentee ballot PRONTO.

How's Landrieu doing?

3. Yes, but will your town shock the world and go 55-1 for Obama??
for those of you just joining us, although the Boss is dicussing NOLA politics, he's actually across the state line in Mississippi. There'd be frost somewhere besides the North Shore if that happened!

5. Oh I think 55-1
on the Obama race is pretty realistic in Pearl River County Mississippi. I didn't say which way. There might be some surprise numbers coming out of the Magnolia State next Wednesday morning. My head and my mortgage are in Mississippi. My Heart is in NOLA (just an hour away.) And my butt will be there Thursday for a little din-din and Christmas Shopping and Pre-Halloween fucking off. May go down to the "Joint" on Poland and eat some Barbecue!
