Is this the new meme to devalue the 30 minute political ad?
I just saw two posts referring to the ad as an "infomercial," which to me had a strikingly negative connotation.

Is it just me, or is this the RW talking point of the day? Have I finally earned my own tinfoil hat?

1. I have noticed that, too. I believe it is a RW meme, and I believe the
posters involved to be somewhat suspect at this point.

2. Well, that's what it is -- technically.
The difference is that he's selling hope and change, with the price being a vote.

3. I guess technically it is. It's a 30 minute advertisement for Obama.
The other not-so-auspicious comparison is, that the last politician to do a 30-minute television spot was Perot.

I'm not too worried about that, though. Obama outclasses Perot, and he's not selling Sham-Wow!

4. Doesn't matter, as long as they keep talking about it...
more people will know it's coming, and more people will watch it.

5. It's a pretty accepted term for a half hour commercial. I used it about Obama's ad.
Meant no disrespect, it was just what those are generally called. Could even be positive--at least Obama had information in his. With McCain it would be a whinomercial. With Palin a hatomercial. With Bush a WTFomercial. With Cheney a snarlomercial. With Rice a itsnevermyfaultomercial. With Powell a whateverthewinningsidewantstohearomercial. With Limbaugh a didImentionhe'sblackomercial.

infomercials sell snake oil, get rich quick schemes and male enhancement. This is a 30 minute political ad; not an infomercial.
