Ask your boss. Ask your professor.
Take Election Day off and volunteer to make history.

and the day after, too; because I will either be hung over or I'll have committed suicide. Either way, it doesn't bode well for going in to work on the 5th.

2. Poll worker from 6am to 2pm.
Unless things get too busy and they need me to stay longer. I want to be home to watch results come in.

3. I'm taking the afternoon off
If there is anything I can do at the local Democratic office - I will do it. I don't care if they ask me to clean the bathrooms - I will lend a hand any way I can.

Its Now of Never!

5. I did TWO better
After I leave work on October 31, I'm not going back until November 6.

Yeah, it's three days of vacation time, but heck. It's worth it!

6. Election day should be a national holiday so that everyone can be off
Wonder if that will ever happen

10. I really want to...
... but I'm in the midst of a huge project and I have important deadlines next week. There's no way I can get away with it. Personally, I think we ALL should get Election Day off from work.

11. Too bad we can't do it like other countries which name election day a national holiday.
At least we have early voting in many states, and it should be allowed in every state.

12. Done weeks ago
Half of the day to work at the polls and half of the day to work for Obama (probably drive people to the polls).

:)

17. LOL
Not only am I taking the day off, I'm taking TWO WEEKS off--and after clicking the link to say I was doing it, I coughed up a cash donation besides.

No, I can't afford it (underpaid medical transcriptionist whose livelihood is being siphoned off to India and will very soon not be able to survive in this field), but I can't afford NOT to. It's not every day you get to be a part of history.

14. Already done!
I'm going to be precinct leader! I'm sooo excited! I was a poll watcher in West Palm Beach, FL in 2004. Now I'll be organizing the Democratic poll watchers at my precinct, making sure everyone can vote, and if anyone is refused, making sure they get to talk to a lawyer about it.

15. Unfortunately, my work is coming home. No school on Election Day.
But we will be bringing comfort food for the volunteers.

16. The volunteers will appreciate it!
I'm making sure I bring an ice chest full of bottled water, and some snacks to my polling place for my poll workers. It's small things like that, that can really make a difference in people's moral after working 14 hours at the polls.
