Whaaa! Buchanan throws in the towel! "Obama's First 100 Days"
Sounds good to me! :)

Obama's First 100 Days

snip//

Rep. Barney Frank is calling for new tax hikes on the most successful and a 25 percent across-the-board slash in national defense. Sen. John Kerry is talking up new and massive federal spending, a la FDR's New Deal. Specifically, we can almost surely expect:

-- Swift amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens and a drive to make them citizens and register them, as in the Bill Clinton years. This will mean that Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona will soon move out of reach for GOP presidential candidates, as has California.

-- Border security will go on the backburner, and America will have a virtual open border with a Mexico of 110 million.

-- Taxes will be raised on the top 5 percent of wage-earners, who now carry 60 percent of the U.S. income tax burden, and tens of millions of checks will be sent out to the 40 percent of wage-earners who pay no federal income tax. Like the man said, redistribute the wealth, spread it around.

-- Social Security taxes will be raised on the most successful among us, and capital gains taxes will be raised from 15 percent to 20 percent. The Bush tax cuts will be repealed, and death taxes reimposed.

-- Two or three more liberal activists of the Ruth Bader Ginsberg-John Paul Stevens stripe will be named to the Supreme Court. U.S. district and appellate courts will be stacked with "progressives."

-- Special protections for homosexuals will be written into all civil rights laws, and gays and lesbians in the military will be invited to come out of the closet. "Don't ask, don't tell" will be dead.

-- The homosexual marriages that state judges have forced California, Massachusetts and Connecticut to recognize, an Obama Congress or Obama court will require all 50 states to recognize.

-- A "Freedom of Choice Act" nullifying all state restrictions on abortions will be enacted. America will become the most pro-abortion nation on earth.

-- Affirmative action -- hiring and promotions based on race, sex and sexual orientation until specified quotas are reached -- will be rigorously enforced throughout the U.S. government and private sector.

-- Universal health insurance will be enacted, covering legal and illegal immigrants, providing another powerful magnet for the world to come to America, if necessary by breaching her borders.

-- A federal bailout of states and municipalities to keep state and local governments spending up could come in December or early next year.

-- The first trillion-dollar deficit will be run in the first year of an Obama presidency. It will be the first of many.

Welcome to Obamaland!

4. Sorry, Pat, but the deficit will be mitigated by restoring a sane tax structure
And most of the rest of the steps you mention will be so popular as to end the Republican Party's strangelhold on this country for a generation.

See you in political Siberia. :hi:

7. yes, Pat. Pro Abortion
show us how you get it, Pat. Cuz, you know, women across America are lining up for Spa and Abortion Day. Get a facial and why not get an abortion, too? Get a mani pedi and abortion! woo hoo!

You know, I get so sick of listening to these people, but especially the men, talk about abortion. I drove my best friend to the clinic to get hers, and you know what? they didn't even give her any anaesthetic, I guess as a form of "punishment". And my friend (gee, should I call her my fellow prisoner, I mean, we're both women in this country and I guess according to the Republicans we have no lives worth saving) cried for months afterward from the loss....she then went on to have 5 kids. is that "pro abortion"?

People really should know what in the fuck they are talking about before they spend their entire lives spewing about a procedure they know nothing about. And I'm sorry to be graphic here, but I think these folks think it's like a day at the spa for women. Clearly Pat never taken his girlfriend to get one (that doesn't mean his girlfriends didn't get one) or if he did, he didn't have the courage to go with her into the SCARY room. Lots of nerve.

Pat, if men could get pregnant, I wouldn't have to read shit like this from asshats like you.

35. Cutting military *spending* is not the same as cutting the military.
This is just a repeat of old talking points about Iraq war funds. We can easily cut out insane waste and "suplementals" by not starting stupid wars that saddle every american with thousands of dollars of debt, and integrating more electronic policing in our purchasing systems.

Time for talks about "12 dollar hammers" again.

21. Reminds me of MY friends in high school, except for one part
Her mother took her to the HOSPITAL, where she was able to have a clean, safe, legal abortion, with her mother by her side. The mother was concerned that my friend's hard-core injection drug use could have damaged the fetus. Not an easy choice for anyone involved. As you say, not exactly "Spa and Abortion Day", but clean, safe and legal.

My friend went on to dump the junkie boyfriend, and become clean and sober herself. She also got knocked up by someone else right after high school, but he wasn't a junkie, they got married, had that baby, had 2 more healthy, happy kids, and are STILL married 30 years later.

Not sure the story would have had the same ending if she had to carry that junkie's baby to term.

(I've told this story in front of another straight-laced "pro-choice" friend K from high school, who said "You're making that up", but when I mentioned the girl's name, K said "oh.....yeah." Not sure K thought this girl would have made a very good mother either)

28. The first time I heard the term "pro-abortion"
I almost hit the guy who called me that. He and I were in a military class together, and I was pregnant with baby number seven when the subject of politics came up during dinner one night. He acted all smug about it, too, as if there was nothing I could say to him that would refute his labeling me as pro-abortion.

How could anyone with a heart be pro-abortion? And how would that jerk feel if I told him that someone made a law forcing him to undergo a medical procedure that he didn't want? In case you haven't noticed, people, women still die during pregnancy and childbirth. Some women do everything that they can to avoid an unplanned pregnancy, and when it happens anyway, it's never an easy decision to make. And no matter how much I love children, if one of them had been conceived as a result of rape, there's no way I would have carried that criminal's genes into the next generation. I don't expect any woman to have to do that.

A friend of my ex-husband's is infertile because of her abortion, which was also done without anesthesia. I'm willing to bet that the doctor damaged her on purpose as punishment.

Pat is completely clueless about women's rights, because he doesn't believe that women are anything more than life support systems for fetuses.

32. wow- your post is right on
he thinks women are life support for fetuses -- right on.

They think we are breeders and nothing else-- it's really extremely creepy and frightening. I'm so sorry about your friend. I definitely had the feeling they were "punishing" my friend, but neither of us knew much back then about the whole thing. I later had a different friend who had to have a D and C, which is the same thing but for medical purposes after a miscarriage, and they knocked her out so she remembered nothing. That really woke me up to the whole approach to this issue, which is cruel and horrific. As you pointed out, many women find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy for reasons other than simply being "irresponsible". Some women can't get an abortion without the father's approval or signing off. I know there are reasons for this, but there are also plenty of good reasons why this can be problematic for the woman. This is a policy for many doctors in some states. In the end, we need to have control over our bodies or we are nothing but breeders or life support for fetuses.

I'd like to see women's health treated with dignity and respect. I'd also like to see some of the folks preaching about this issue deal with live children with the same passion and concern.

34. That's the thing with those people
They don't care about children, either. Very few of them will actually do anything to help the children born to drug-addicted mothers, to abusive parents, or in severe poverty. How many of those "pro-life" people care about the babies once they are no longer fetuses? I'm guessing that the vast majority of them don't care.

I strongly believe that they invented their "pro-life" movement as a way to legitimize control over women. I have to admire them for finding a way to send women back to the dark ages without all of us fighting back as hard as we can.

If they TRULY wanted abortions to stop, they would be pushing for more birth control methods and easier access to birth control. Instead, they are doing the opposite, which causes more unplanned pregnancies and raises the abortion rates, thus giving them more ammunition in their fight for more control over women's rights. It's becoming a no-win situation for women in this country, which makes me very ill.

Anyway, I had a D&C after one of my miscarriages, and I was treated very kindly by the doctor. I had four more children after that, so I know that it's possible to have that sort of procedure done without causing so much damage. I'm glad your friend was able to have children after her abortion. As I was writing this, I remembered another friend who had an abortion when she was young, and she was never able to get pregnant again after that. I'm willing to bet that there were doctors who were either incompetent or deliberately hurting their patients.

40. me, too...I was remembering another friend
while reading your post -- wow, now that I think about it, I know a lot of women who have gone through this. The other friend of mine was never able to get pregnant again either. Very sad. I agree with you that this is a form of control over women; clearly abortion rates go down when access to birth control is given. It's such an outrageous tragedy to see a young girl's life changed for good over something she had little control over. And too frequently, the father doesn't participate and isn't required to help out financially, or rather, is supposed to but doesn't. If the roles were reversed, this wouldn't even be an issue.

It is terrifying to me that people like Palin are trying so hard to gain power so that they can take away the rights of women. She cut funding for the home for unwed mothers, while at the same time talking up her "pro life" baloney. They're so smug and self-righteous about it, too. As if they are in the right and anyone who is pro-choice (or pro-all life) is scum. It's an outrage to me that these people have dominated the social and political fabric of our culture for so long and as you pointed out, that women all over the nation haven't risen in violent umbrage.

Palin is the patriarchal barbie -- she is the woman who serves the male alpha dog and assists him in maintaining power and control. It's absolutely sickening to have women like that held up as the model of "feminism", as the McCain campaign has done. As if we don't know better! As if we can't tell the difference???? Every day I have a moment of utter terror that they get into office and the world goes dark. It isn't real, I know that...but the very idea seems so outrageous to me. The idea that they even have the nerve to run on the platform they are running on -- the Dark Ages. They would kill us all. Thankfully, the feeling soon passes and I am filled with hope again.

I know Obama and Biden will fight for women's rights -- one of the first things I learned about Biden was the Violence Against Women Act that he pushed through and it made me breathe a huge sigh of relief.

I'm so tired of this particular meme. One of the arguments they used to sell the tax cuts in the first place was that they were temporary. Now if they expire as planned the Democrats have "raised taxes".

17. OK, let's go through this.
-- Swift amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens and a drive to make them citizens and register them, as in the Bill Clinton years. This will mean that Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona will soon move out of reach for GOP presidential candidates, as has California.

Obama has never proposed this and there is absolutely no reason beyond Pat's paranoid delusion that he would do so now, not to mention that he would need massive amounts of popular support to do so.

-- Border security will go on the backburner, and America will have a virtual open border with a Mexico of 110 million.

See above.

Wrong again, Pat. Obama wants to return the tax burden on the top five percent to what it was under Clinton--you remember, those eight years of peace and prosperity that you bitched about for, well, all eight years?

-- Social Security taxes will be raised on the most successful among us, and capital gains taxes will be raised from 15 percent to 20 percent. The Bush tax cuts will be repealed, and death taxes reimposed.

The only part of this that is true is "The Bush tax cuts will be repealed."

-- Two or three more liberal activists of the Ruth Bader Ginsberg-John Paul Stevens stripe will be named to the Supreme Court. U.S. district and appellate courts will be stacked with "progressives."

...making a total of 11-12 judges! Seriously, Pat, do the math. It's pretty simple--I think you're still capable. There are only nine Supremes, remember?

-- Special protections for homosexuals will be written into all civil rights laws, and gays and lesbians in the military will be invited to come out of the closet. "Don't ask, don't tell" will be dead.

THEM QUEERS IS EEEEEEEEVIL!!! Pat, are you channeling Mermaid Man of "Spongebob Squarepants" now?

-- The homosexual marriages that state judges have forced California, Massachusetts and Connecticut to recognize, an Obama Congress or Obama court will require all 50 states to recognize.

Impossible. Gay marriage is being recognized on a state-by-state basis as it is, and neither Obama or Biden support a federal law permitting gay marriage. Unfortunate, yes, but that's the truth.

-- A "Freedom of Choice Act" nullifying all state restrictions on abortions will be enacted. America will become the most pro-abortion nation on earth.

No one is pro-abortion, Pat. Safe, legal, and rare--those are the objectives of the pro-choice movement, and if you'd stop listening to all that religious right claptrap you'd realize it.

-- Affirmative action -- hiring and promotions based on race, sex and sexual orientation until specified quotas are reached -- will be rigorously enforced throughout the U.S. government and private sector.

You'd have been more subtle, Pat, if you'd said "I HATES N****RS!"

-- Universal health insurance will be enacted, covering legal and illegal immigrants, providing another powerful magnet for the world to come to America, if necessary by breaching her borders.

Universal healthcare would not cover illegal immigrants--what do you honestly think, Pat? That Obama will gin up a brownshirt squad that marches from town to town and makes sure that all illegal immigrants have healthcare?

-- A federal bailout of states and municipalities to keep state and local governments spending up could come in December or early next year.

EARMARKS :downs:

-- The first trillion-dollar deficit will be run in the first year of an Obama presidency. It will be the first of many.

Have you looked at our CURRENT deficit lately, Pat?

26. One disagreement with you on your analysis

It's quite possible that a less conservative SCOTUS could specifically rule in the near future that 'homosexuals' cannot be denied the right to marriage under the US Constitution. The current court has basically already said this in a more general context. And Joe Biden said in the VP debate, in answer to this question, that under an Obama-Biden administration, everyone will be treated the same under the Constitution. So he left it open to the SCOTUS to decide.

I do doubt very much that even a very liberal Congress will ever enact same-sex marriage recognition on its own. But they will follow the lead of the SCOTUS.

Also, on this point:

-- Affirmative action -- hiring and promotions based on race, sex and sexual orientation until specified quotas are reached -- will be rigorously enforced throughout the U.S. government and private sector.

Didn't the SCOTUS already decide against the use of quotas? I think they did, so Pat's tantrum over this is moot.

No matter that they consistently vote against worker's rights and higher wages and benefits, that they spearheaded the outsourcing of our jobs to cheap labor countries and the insourcing of cheap workers from India, that they create huge monopolies that small companies can't compete with, that they voted against all regulation that might give the little guy a chance, all of which pretty much guarantees that they, the 5 percent, will be the ONLY ones to populate that tax bracket. And on top of it all, they support monstrous military expenditures in Iraq and the deregulation that resulted in our current economic crisis.....the poor, poor, innocent, five percent! Why should they have to pay so much?? :eyes:

37. They'll be crying Socialist all week
Get ready to argue the whole point. Its a dangerous accusation that requires a complicated response, but you wont have time for that. Just let them know his tax Policy is less Socialistic than Reagan's was his 1st 7 years. Say he's about the same as Clinton on these issues.
