So much for expecting a graceful close from McCorrupt...

McCain to pound on Rezko dealings
Posted October 25, 2008 6:10 PM
The Swamp

by Jill Zuckman

Mesilla, N.M. - With just nine days left in the race, the McCain campaign plans to step up its attacks against Barack Obama for his connection to Tony Rezko, the convicted developer who was an early patron of the Illinois senator.

A senior campaign official said the campaign will begin sending out direct mail, running television ads and making robo calls about Obama's Hyde Park home purchase, which took place the same day Rezko bought the vacant lot next door and later sold a portion of that land to Obama. Obama later conceded was "a lapse in judgement" on his part.

Even Rezko's already dead and buried.

3. Seriously...who cares? Pitiful.
And this, in our very troubled economic times, is how they end their campaign. Total irrelevancy.

18. Yep, this is a total waste of time
Rezko was never interesting. I love that THIS is McCain's issue of last resort! What a loser!

24. I assume they're thinking that the Syrian thing will get traction. Too bad for them Rezko's
Catholic.

4. More distractions
McCain is still following the same template he has been for the last month, attacking Obama on his associations. But Wright hasn't stuck, Ayers hasn't stuck, and your average American who is not deeply involved in politics has no clue who Tony Rezco is, so it likely will not stick, either. It's a last desperate attempt by McCain to get people's minds off the economy. McCain's going to go down rolling in the mud with the pigs.

6. I think it is unlikely to have too much impact given the appearance of desperation
It kind of reminds me of how the Republicans over the course of several years threw everything in the world at Bill Clinton. By the time the Monica scandal came up - no one wanted to hear it anymore. I have often thought that if the Monica affair was the first thing they tried to use to take him down - it might have been more successful. But by that time people were just bored with all their accusations.

7. Do they really think slum lord is going to stick when domestic terrorist didn't?
They should have went Rezko first and closed with Ayers.

These numbskulls can't even play dirty right.

8. Obama got a crappy deal on that land
I am rather happy to see that McCain did not learn from the failings of the Clinton campaign.

10. Rezko was a losing issue for Hillary... and it's a losing issue for McCain

If they're resorting to Rezko at this late hour, I'm not worried at all.

The country will give a collective yawn.

12. Keep digging, old man.
Now that people are on to him, that he has nothing and is just throwing mud, everything McCain does will lower his favorables. After the election, no one will pay any attention to him at all. He's just guaranteeing that this is what we'll remember him for. His dishonor.

17. Obama did a 3-hour presser with the 2 major Chicago newspapers during the Primaries
If they want to drag out yet another poor dead horse to flog, Obama and his surrogates can remind everyone that he explained the issue at length and to the satisfaction of a skeptical local Chicago media.

Whee!

fall even further if he goes on the attack with hold BS again.

20. Let him continue to spend his money on these ads
the remaining Republicans don't even know who or what Rezco did....

Spend away McCain spend away.....this way he will not have any money to run ads against Obama's 30 minute ads near the end....
