For the first time in our history the DOW on 11/4 could move votes

Before the 1990s the stock market didn't mean much to ordinary folks. It was an abstraction. (No 401Ks)

The only recent 100% Economy presidential election, 1992, was not a stock market event. (The recession of 1992 was the unwinding of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990. The stock market had taken its big hit and rebounded before the recession even started.)

So this will the the first presidential election the behavior of the stock market on election day can shift some undecided voters.

A big rally or big sell-off could swing 1 or 2% of the population one way or another.

(It won't be close enough for that to matter. It's just an intriguing first.)

Most people don't follow the market except when it leads the news but many people today with no money in the market still use it as an emotional bellwhether.

These 500-700 point swing days lead the news.
