McCain Gets Incredibly Un-Coveted al-Qaida Endorsement

This isn't exactly the endorsement John McCain is looking for to counter Colin Powell.

The Arizona senator received the backing of al-Qaida supporters today, in a message deciphered on a Web site. The terrorist supporters called for an attack on the United States as a way of scaring Americans into voting for McCain, who would continue "the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

Call this a shocker for voters who thought Barack Hussein Obama is a secret Muslim/terrorist. Another surprise is that al-Qaida would back someone who chose a running mate who shows so much leg.

"If al-Qaida carries out a big operation against American interests, this act will be support of McCain because it will push the Americans deliberately to vote for McCain so that he takes revenge for them against al-Qaida," the message said. "Al-Qaida then will succeed in exhausting America till its last year in it."

Of course, there's always the chance that the "endorsement" is a ruse designed to trick people to vote for Obama, if the group truly favors the Illinois senator. But I don't think al-Qaida is that smart.

The message is also a tad reminiscent of Osama bin Laden's videotape released just days before the Bush-Kerry presidential election in 2004. It seems that al-Qaida is getting more face time these days than some third-party candidates, like Bob Barr and Ralph Nader.
