3. Oh, man, I remember that.
In fact, my most vivid memories of Kennedy are as a father. When he was murdered my tears were for those fatherless kids. My parents had recently gotten a divorce and I felt the loss... guess I displaced some of it to that family and its tragedy.

Still stirs the pain a little. But also appreciation of the beauty.

nostalgically,
Bright

6. K&R
Cecil Stoughton was the official White House photographer back then. His candid shots of the first family are legendary.

7. Aw geez, I still remember the smell of that type of mask.
Some of the things our kids will never get to experience.

8. And they called him Macaroni.

President John F. Kennedy (1961-63) spends some time at the White House with his children, Caroline and John Jr., and their pony, Macaroni.

13. I was young then.....
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 05:59 PM by AnneD
but Mom always mentions what a breath of fresh air the Kennedy's esp. the kids were. She said so many folks had young ones running around the house that it was easy to identify with the Kennedys as parents first and foremost. The Kennedy's had a photographer about and he always snapped the best shots. The one she said she always love the best was the kids staying up past their bedtime-in their footed flannel PJ's. They were watching a dance after a State Dinner-their little faces poking through the stair railings-their eyes as big as tea cup saucers. I saw that photo once, Mom was right.

When he was assinated-Mom said she was more sad for the kids than anything else. It happened close to John John's birthday and they held he party anyway.

16. I've been thinking about that lately..
how nice it would be to have a family with little kids in there again. When Biden was talking about the sleepover with his granddaughters and the Obama daughters, it was just so sweet.
