McCain guarantees victory on MTP
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he can “guarantee” a win on Nov. 4 in a squeaker victory that won’t be clear until late that night.

“"I feel like Knute Rockne ... go out there and get one for the Gipper,” McCain told interim moderator Tom Brokaw in Waterloo, Iowa. “We are very competitive in battleground states. … Obviously, I choose to trust my senses as well as polls. The enthusiasm at almost all of our is at a higher level than I've ever seen, and I've been in a lot of presidential campaigns, usually as the warm-up act. ... And I see intensity out there, and I see passion. So we're very competitive.”

“I guarantee you that two weeks from now, you will see this has been a very close race, and I believe that I'm going to win it,” McCain added later. “We're going to do well in this campaign, my friend. We're going to win it, and it's going to be tight, and we're going to be up late.”

McCain added: “We're going to have to just get out our vote, work hard over the next nine days, and make sure that people know that there'll be a better future. People are very worried now — very, very worried, and have every reason to be. I think it's all about who can assure a better future.”

1. Spoken like someone who's sure to lose.
Only a politician who had no chance of winning would guarantee victory--that's the only way he'd manage any kind of turnout at all.

You don't hear Obama doing that, do you?

25. That's what it sounded like to me too. Although my hope is that
the spread is too wide for them to steal and still appear plausible.

6. He chooses to trust his senses?
He'd better watch out, I think his senses are throwing him under the bus with the multitudes that McCain himself has thrown there.

7. oh my god....he even calls Brokaw "my friend". what a nerd.
Heh...Brokaw should have asked him why he thinks people leave after Palin has finished speaking and McCain starts speaking, at the rallies.

26. I agree...he can't say or act like he's losing
or he own base won't show up and he'll be truly embarrassed on election night.

I don't think his statement necessarily talks about a fix....just being optimistic and "rallying the troops" so to speak.

11. Up late?
Does he still think he's going to win California, or what? I think he's either delusional or he believes Diebold will steal it for him. Or both. If Obama's up ten or so going into the 4th, and the exit polling indicates an Obama win, and then overnight McCain's declared the "winner," I think we're going to see some serious, serious shit in this country.

by 8:15, so he's copping z's when 9PM rolls around.

Just sayin'...

We remember the last time a short, military-obsessed man sought victory from Waterloo; Napoleon was never the same after that defeat.

20. ROFL. "We are very competitive in battleground states"
Right.

Not the traditional battleground states, like Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Virginia. He means the "new" battleground states, like Indiana, North Carolina, and Montana.

Wouldn't surprise me if McCain was a "shoot the messenger" kind of guy, just like W, his BFF.

27. Knute Rockne?
Really? Knute Rockne? Tell me Senator McCain, do you have any references that aren't more than a half a century old?

I keep expecting him to pop off with a "whipper-snapper" comment or any moment give us a "dag-nabbit." Try this, sometime when he's on TV just close your eyes and listen, or better yet, listen to him on the radio, he sounds like he is a hundred years old.

30. I doubt B* would go public with his judiciary purge if it were fixed.
That's what I'm betting on. B* is only going out of a limb to purge voters because it's the only way to tip PA.

If it were rigged, I think the chimp would sit tight and keep his head down.
