yes you.

as for my concerns, I'll be in Nevada next weekend unless the snow in the Sierras stop me, in which case I'll be dialing from here in the Bay Area.

i'm a worrywart by nature, but one thing i don't do, i don't tell others what i worry about if i think it will make them worry in the same way.

worry without a plan is wasted energy.

1. I'm concerned that I have no coffee.
I think I'll wait for my wife to bring me some. I just heard the grinder in the kitchen.

5. I remain concerned
that if I go outside, a television might drop from the sky, and strike me. I've had this fear for many years, and as the election draws nearer and nearer, I have an image of the television being tuned into Fox News, with Karl Rove on the screen. Certainly, this is the type of dirty trick Rove would love to drop on us all at this time.

What am I doing about it? Well, of course, gnashing of teeth, shivering, and wringing my hands provides temporary relief. But I'm still wearing a knit cap when I leave the house, just in case. One cannot be too careful.

6. Better that you stay indoors, IMO.
That scenario could happen, it's not outside the realm of possibilities...

9. I had heard that the quality of television is dropping all the time.
I had not known that the actual televisions themselves were dropping.

11. Yes, but
that could be part of The Plot that James Simon Kunen's friend warned him about (see page 18 of "The Strawberry Statement.")

Let's look closer (and hope they are not watching):

"A friend constantly called me up to confide that he had discovered various new aspects of the plot. The ring ring's phone plot, for instance. A quick look at an area-code map shows that the assignment of area-codes folows no discernible pattern at all. Why? And the phone numbers of nearly everyone we knew were divisibly by three.

"The plots of Them, in fact, became so incomprehensibly multifarious that it seemed the only way to avoid them was never to leave your room or, ideally, your bed. But that might be playing right into Their hands."

I trust you will agree that you will not find information like that on TV. Well, except the right-wing version on Fox News. It's a jungle out there.

12. I'm concerned about my mother, she just had surgery on her foot
She has to keep it elevated for 3 weeks or she will have swelling in it for the rest of her life. She lives in Minnesota and I'm a Massachusetts resident. My father was there during the week but only at night since he works. He had some trips planned for the weekends so she is bored and a bit scared/lonesome after dark. And she is having difficulty taking care of her 2 young puppies.

So I stayed with her for the first week, cooked and took care of the puppies, and then called her a bunch this 2nd week. She's doing just fine but she is very bored and really wants to be up and about.

Good premise for a thread. I'm not really sure why I went into such detail here given that you are really just trying to get a handle on concern threads but maybe it serves as an example.

21. I will be working Election Day from 0400 until gawd knows when
maybe even the next day (2004 was 0400 on election day until 0100 the NEXT DAY when the last person voted

The ballot box is the only place elections are won or lost now...being on the ground in a place where some of the worst suppression will occur, Ohio, Franklin County, will be my entire focus that day.
