Petty things the Democrats to do after the Election simply because we can
1) Name an aircraft carrier after Bill Clinton. Want to see Freeper's head explode. The best most modern ship in the US Navy is named after Bill. After that name a Nuclear Submarine after Hillary. Watch their fucking heads explode.
2) Name a hospital ship or a tugboat for John McCain. Name a non-combat ship for McCain. Recognize his service but the fact that it is a non-combat ship will be a giant slap in the face.
3) Introduce a resolution to change the $10 bill to have Roosevelt instead of Hamilton. Those fuckers in the GOP have been trying to but Reagan on the 10 since he left office. Lets combat that with Roosevelt but leave Hamilton on there because despite his moral and personal failings he was a Patriot and deserves to be there.
4) Start naming Airports after Democrats. Bill Clinton International Airport in Philadelphia would be a good and piss the Repukes off to start.
5) Send Senator Franken to all the RW radio pundits for an interview. Don't answer a question till they address him by his Title.

1. Boycott Fixed News and add Carter, Gore and Kerry to ship names in # 1
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 12:37 AM by LonePirate
Request all Democratic politicians and pundits completely avoid Fixed News. Let them shout and scream and ignore every sound or word they utter.

While not petty, nominating Colin Powell, John Murtha or John Kerry as Secretary of Defense would also infuriate them.

13. Carter is already on a ship
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Jimmy_Carter

"USS Jimmy Carter (SSN-23), the third and last Seawolf-class submarine, is the first ship of the United States Navy to be named for former President Jimmy Carter, who served in the US Navy as a Communications Officer, Sonar Officer, Electronics Officer, Gunnery Officer and Supply Officer while on board the USS Pomfret (SS-391).<1> Jimmy Carter is one of the few ships of the United States Navy to have been named for a person who was alive at the time of the ship's naming. Jimmy Carter is the only U.S. President to qualify in submarines."

24. Dissolve the Electoral College
At least introduce it for a Constitutional Amendment.

Move voting from Tuesday to Saturdays.

68. Both those things are well on their way already.
http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/index.php

Soon enough the electoral college will be irrelevant. Also, more and more states and counties are going to all-mail voting. Actually the fact that it's on paper is much more important than switching the day for voting. But this also makes it much easier to vote and you don't have to do it on a certain day (just by a certain deadline).

I'm very hopeful that we can finally rid ourselves of these electronic voting machines during the Obama administration, and make it easier to vote. Not sure if we'll be able to get the national popular vote through that quickly but guess we'll have to wait and see.

3. Necessary things for the Democrats to do, simply because we must.
1. Ban black box voting and root out every form of election fraud and voter suppression ever perpetrated by the GOP

2. Re-instate the Fairness Doctrine

3. Re-regulate the press, forbidding media monopolies

4. End the Iraq War

5. Enact specific constitutional protections for reproductive choice and same-sex marriage

Those are my top five, anyway.

It's just an irritant. The Freepers are morons, but impeaching somebody two weeks before the end of his term is childish.

I'm gonna love love seeing Cheney and Bu$h introduce Obama and Biden into the White House. I hope somebody gets a shot of it for the media. That will be enough to flip off the Freepers.

I strongly disagree with this one. Enlighten the masses and allow people to make their own choices. If you give them something credible to listen to, they will follow. Monopolies in general should be avoided, but lets not regulate press.

29. Break up media monopolies
and create a favorable environment for non-profit community organizations (not just mega-churches) to own local media

Fully fund NPR and PBS and set up a hands-off organization so they are not subject to political interference

Reserve part of the AM radio band for nonprofit and educational stations

And yank the tax exemption of any church that advocates for one side of any electoral issue or office

8. I like the idea of naming stuff after Clinton. How about bringing back the Fairness Doctrine?
I think Obama is against re-introducing it, but I really think people like Rush and Hannity are the ones responsible for the divisiveness in our country. The days of Tipp O'Neill and Reagan having drinks in the evening were replaced with Clinton-haters whipping people up into a frenzy with total BS. When people aren't exposed to any other viewpoint, it's tough to get the country unified, although if anyone can do it, it's Obama.

Can you say "the Patrick J. Buchanan Immigration act"

Can you say "the Albert A. Gore Veterans Hospital"

Can you say "the Ronald W. Reagan Civil Rights Marriage Bill"

Can you say "the George W Bush Anti-profiteering act". Applied retroactively.

And definitely put Roosevelt on a few things. I think the $10 would be a very good start. Get Repubs to agree by promising to put Reagan on some money. Then put Reagan on a new 2 cent piece. A very bulky and unwieldy 2 cent piece.

I do think we should be pushing for receipts with our votes with a confirm number that can be used to verify each vote online with a matching backend system that uses the confirm numbers enumerate the vote count when counting them up. Or some other kind of smart double-checking system. I'm sure this problem could be engineered right out of the process.

I agree on these. The second Ford-class carrier ought to be called USS Bill Clinton. It won't be launched until 2014-2015, but whatever. Nuclear submarine after Hillary? No, a destroyer will do quite nicely.

I don't agree on a non-combat ship named after McCain. He's served America far better than most. I'd name a new Burke-class Destroyer after him.

Sending Franken onto the RW shows will be funny, as they cannot manage to call him "Senator Franken".

66. Petty things..
Well firstly, Jimmy Carter ALREADY has a Seawolf nuclear powered attack submarine named after him if I remember right and it is FITTING given that he had a great deal to do with the invention of the "nuclear navy" with Rickover in its early days. (Jimmy Carter was a nuclear engineer who spent two years at my school, Georgia Tech, before moving on to Annapolis.)

My choices:

1) Rename Washington National to Franklin Delano Roosevelt National Airport (it was probably built under one of FDR's gov't works programs anyways).

2) Appoint Bill Clinton to the first available Supreme Court Justice job.

3) Make Bill Clinton U.N. ambassador until #2 becomes possible.

4) Sign the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty and hand the pen to Al Gore at the photo op.

5) Re-instate the fairness doctrine on the radio. Make Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the rest of the pukes have to have a counterbalancing Dem host and have to have as many Dem guests as Republicans.

6) Investigate the crap out of bankers, stock brokers and oilmen.

7) Investigate the crap out of the Bush administration, former Republican Congressmen and lobbyists.

8) Make John Kerry Secretary of Defense.

9) Make John Edwards Attorney General.

10) Get rid of "don't ask don't tell" and let gays openly serve in the military. Pass a Federal law allowing gay marriage and recognizing it.

All these things will cause Republicans heads to explode.
