Orlando's WFTV Barbara West "I don't think I was rude to Biden"

WFTV's Barbara West on her interview with Joe Biden: "I don't think I was rude or inconsiderate to him"

The Barack Obama campaign called Barbara West's interview with Sen. Joe Biden unprofessional and combative.

The veteran WFTV-Channel 9 anchor-reporter says she asked pointed questions and respects Sen. Biden, who is Sen. Obama's running mate.

In a call to me Friday evening, West (pictured) said of Biden: "I have a great deal of respect for him. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don't think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough. I can't believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn't run into some tough questions before. He's certainly up to it in giving good answers."

Don't forget to read the comments. They are as ridiculous as the interview.

"Ms. West was professional in her approach and legitimately probing in her questions. Biden came off as disrespectful, arrogant, and outraged that someone would ask him tough questions. With only 9 days left, tough questions need to be asked. Thank you WFTV, for asking good questions instead of opting for another puff piece!"

1. a rightwing reporter on a rightwing station
that obviously has only rightwing listeners would be my guess. Lucky most folks aren't buying what she's selling.

9. I found the video because of DU cause I don't even bother watching...
the local news anymore here in Orlando. And sorry to inform you that people buy into this shit here. Florida is full of Neocons that moved from the North (I work with lots of hardcore republicans who moved here because of Disney) and yes, I see more McCain/Palin stickers than Obama's.

4. O-B should blacklist her
And if they get into the White House, no interviews, no access for her.

7. I love how cool Biden is under her onslaught of lies. At one point he asks "are you joking?"
"is this a joke?"

8. It's not that she was rude, it's that she was preposterously partisan.
In a word, McCarthyist.

Just like Michele Bachmann.

Two peas in a pod.

10. Right, a great deal of respect, huh? How about not acting like a complete RW hack?
It was like watching Rush-lite. These were not hard hitting questions about connections to Acorn or questions about if their tax policies are better then McLame's or not. They were RW talking points about Karl Marx and socialism. There was no serious journalism found. That said, Biden made her look like a fool.

15. I don't think in all his years in politics, some tart called him a "Marxist"

I think we'd know by now whether Biden was a Marxist.

What a maroon.

16. I had to post my own response there.
Whether my post will be approved and show up is another matter.

--------

How many people here who think this was a "great interview" with "tough" questions think that the Eisenhower administration was Communist or Marxist? You know, when a Republican was President and the top tax rate was 91%? (Yes, that's a nine followed by a one -- 91%.)

Somehow merely proposing to reduce recent Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, and turning the top tax rate back to a rate that's still LESS that the 50% it was UNDER REAGAN is "socialist" and "communist", and playing up the Red Scare about such a perfectly modest, moderate tax proposal is supposedly "tough but fair"?

Yes, Obama is proposing the kind of "wealth spreading" that hasn't been seen since the ruinous Marxism of the first six years of the Reagan administration. Scary, comrades, scary! The American Dream will die and we'll all be slaves to the State, just like when Eisenhower was in charge.
