'Bout Damn Time ... Now Let's Put 'Em in Prison
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 12:44 PM by the48er
In too many ways, the last 40 years have really, really sucked. I first got politically active back in 1968 -- just on time to see God's own douche bag, Dick Nixon, elected president. As time went on, Nixon, Reagan and the Bush Crime Family (and all their allies on the thug/imbecile right) have perpetrated atrocity after atrocity, insanity after insanity on America and the world. And they did so with the open complicity of tens of millions (perhaps hundreds of millions -- 40 years is a long time) of our fellow citizens. Whatever good Carter and Clinton may have done has been dwarfed by the staggering evil of the triumphalist right -- especially since 1968. But now it finally looks like we're about to turn the corner. 'Bout damn time.

But what's to stop the profoundly evil bastards' resurgence?

How about this: beginning November 5, let's start bending our efforts to putting as many of those criminal motherfuckers in prison as we possibly can. How about, for openers, looking for ways to get a million poor Americans out of prison and into schools, and a million over-privileged Republican assholes into prison -- permanently. It's not so much a matter of revenge as it is one of self-defense and the common good.

2. From your computer to mine. Yes, we have to relentlessly pursue every
single last one of them for war crimes, treason and racketeering, bringing them to trial and locking them up for a really long time. If President Ford hadn't pardoned all the crooks in the Nixon administration, they wouldn't have resurfaced again in the succeeding Republican administrations where experience made them really good in the art of cheating and murdering for power.

3. November 22, 1963.
That's when the right-wing coup d'etat took place in this country, and with a couple of brief, accidental pauses the same thugs have been in power ever since. Time to get rid of them once and for all, absolutely.

4. I like the way you think. I remember seeing clips of....
gerald ford coming out after nixon's resignation and proclaiming; "My Fellow Americans, Our Long National Nightmare Is Over."

Watergate was a walk in the park and a drop in the bucket compared to what we've had to endure for the last eight years. As far as I'm concerned, America has suffered it's own sort of holocaust under the bush/cheney* admin and our new cry should be NEVER AGAIN!

5. Born in 1968
I was born in 1968. It's about time alright! My mom used to tell me stories back in the '70s of what America could have been like had Bobby Kennedy not been murdered. If only to dream. And then came the Reagan Revolution of greed greed greed. I hope that FINALLY we are able to turn the page.

7. No, not the voters
This isn't a few bad apples there are literally THOUSANDS and possibly a million that have actively participated in real crimes here, including racketeering and illegal finacial practices.

The pretense that this is 5-10 really shady people that have caused the near destruction of our country and economy is pretty far past naive.

8. I think he/she meant only the guilty ones....
you know the ones that manipulated the stock market, ran corporations into the ground and plundered their employees retirement plans, raped the environment with mountain top mining for coal. Heads of mortgage companies, banks and insurance companies that stuck it to all us poor schmucks in the middle class while they enjoyed decadent trips and luxury perks. Exxon/Mobil raking in their hugest profits ever while most of us were trying to dig for change in the couch cushions so we could get to our minimum wage jobs.

I think they meant those people.
