New Hampshire Senate: Shaheen 52%, Sununu 46%
Saturday, October 25, 2008

Democrat Jeanne Shaheen continues to hold a steady lead over incumbent John Sununu in New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state finds the challenger leading 52% to 46%.

Earlier in the month, Shaheen held a five-point advantage and she has been on top in nine of ten polls conducted this year. This is just the second time that Sununu has received more than 45% support all year. Any incumbent who polls below 50% is considered vulnerable.

Shaheen has a 52% to 44% edge among unaffiliated voters in the state. Her lead was double that three weeks ago. She leads 57% to 41% among women, but trails Sununu 50% to 47% among men.

Shaheen, the first woman governor of New Hampshire, served from 1997 to 2003. Sununu, who at 44 is the youngest U.S. Senator, is currently seeking his second term in the legislature.

1. I think it may be closer than that, but I think Shaheen will pull out a win.

2. One of the most infuriating things about the '02 Mid-terms
Was the race between Shaheen and Sununu.

Thankfully, things look pretty good this time around.

10. Yeah, the UNH polls shows Shaheen with a 13% lead - that's closer than 6%, right?

12. Thanks for the polls!
I had no idea that that during the summer Carol Shea-Porter was in trouble.

Thankfully she is doing better!

4. We get assloads of anti-Sununu ads even here in southern ME.
Shaheen is playing a tough game against him, and it's working. :)

13. C-SPAN re-aired the Oct 21, 2008 debate between Shaheen and Sununu.
I saw some of it and she did pretty well.

17. Yep
Shaheen was a popular Governor and should have been elected in 2002.

16. I'd say 52-46 is about right
Shaheen has run a solid campaign, as she always does. This time she doesn't have Shrub babbling about Iraq and GOP thugs pulling phone-jamming scams.
Sununu, in my admittedly biased opinion, has not run a particularly effective campaign. His TV ads are weak; the GOP and 527 ads are pretty much boilerplate, and when they try to localize them they come off as whack jobs.
