"Thank God" Palin isn't prez on Day One, Lieberman says
Joe Lieberman, who prepped Sarah Palin on foreign policy, was asked by the Stamford Advocate what he thought of the prospect of the Alaska governor actually becoming president.

"hank God she's not going to have to be president from Day One. McCain's going to be alive and well," he said.

Not exactly "she's ready from Day One."

Later in the article, he adds: "Let's hope she never has to be ready because we hope McCain is elected and live out his term," Lieberman said. "But if, God forbid, an accident occurs or something of that kind, she'll be ready. She's had executive experience. She's smart. And she will have had on-the-job training."

Then in he throws in an olive branch of sorts to Dems, who are plotting revenge against him for defecting.

"I'm working my heart out for John McCain to be elected our next president," Lieberman said. "But for whatever reason he is not, I'm going to do everything I can to be bringing people together across party lines to support the new president so he can succeed. What's at stake for our country is just too serious."

5. I just can't understand this guy.
Here's some questions that *I* would've asked him:

"Senator, you ran for the VP gig 8 yrs ago. How do Palin's credentials stack up to, say, for instance--YOURS?"

"Although you back Senator McCain for the presidency and are technically an independent, you've had a long history as a Democrat. What are your thoughts regarding Senator McCain's economic policy and health care plan?"

"Every few days, we hear of another respected, long-time Republican or conservative come out for Senator Obama--as a long-time Democrat backing the Republican in this match--how would you explain this phenomenon?"

"When you corrected Senator McCain earlier this year in regards to the statement that Iran was training or otherwise assisting 'extremists"' as opposed to Al-Qaeda--did you genuinely feel that he misspoke? Or, are you aware that this was not the forst or only time he conflated the two?"

"One of your nicknames has been 'Holy Joe', and you have had a reputation for being principled. That being the case, how do you address the troubling instances where this camapaign has been untruthful in ads and on the stump, particularly regarding what some have termed a 'smear campaign'--and also, how would you address these allegations regarding Governor Palin's ethics?"

"There have been rumors that you were on Senator McCain's short list of VP possibles--was that in fact the case? Was any offer made to you of having a role as VP--or some other role in a future Mccain cabinet? Would you have accepted if asked, and would you forsee any difficulties in operating in an administration which, based on this campaign, might even be hostile to liberals?"

"Do you feel like an 'odd duck' surrounded by this many Republicans?"

"How do you return to the Senate if McCain loses--and how do you expect your fellow Democrats to respond to your support of Senator McCain? Have you experienced any backlash or ill-will yet? Do you still plan to run as a Democrat when your term is up?"

"Can you ever go home again?"

I think those are reasonable questions we all might not mind getting answers to.

9. I am so ashamed of Joe Lieberman.
I think we should drop him even if he doesn't drop us. We can't need him that badly....and he does whatever he wants anyway.

10. I hope that the people of Connecticut who voted for Leiberman enjoy having a lame duck Senator
for the next 4 years. I hope that he's frozen out completely by the majority in the Senate. He's not a Democrat and shouldn't be treated as such. Let him go caucus with his buddies.
