How should Team-Obama and Dems respond to the last-ditch message of the GOP which is:
"If you elect Obama and a Dem congress, you will be giving them ALL the power and you MUST have some balance in the system. You can not give them EVERYTHING. There must be a 'circuit breaker' or else checks and balances goes out the window. That would be DANGEROUS FOR AMERICA. We just can't have that."

This is what they started with today, and it is what GOP strategists like Mike Murphy have been urging them to do. So get ready to hear it BIGTIME in the final days. How should our side resond.
I say just keep reminding America that we have done it the GOP for a lllllllllong time now, and it is time a MAJOR, FUNDAMENTAL change in America. Time for a tidal shift in economic theory. Tidal shift in priorities. Tidal shift from "trickle down" to "bottom up" ! Mantra CHANGE CHANGE CHANGE !
We've tried it their way. Now it's time for a major NEW DIRECTION.

Any other SERIOUS thoughts. Please help. We NEED a counter-message to this !

1. With Obama as President, and a Dem controlled congress,
Congress will finally be able to accomplish something.

2. My response
Just say that what the GOP is asking you is to allow them to be obstructionists, to impede the ability of the government to do the important work that needs to be done in order to set this country aright. That the U.S. can't afford another four years of ineffective, misguided government. That only an Obama administration can LEAD the country to a more prosperous, secure future, while the GOP only has plans to fight tooth and nail to defend their misguided ideology, regardless of the real-world effect on the American people... and haven't we had enough of that?

3. The "Give Them Enough Rope And They Will Hang Themselves" strategy seems to be working nicely.
Followed closely by the "The Whackjobs are Doing All the Work For US" strategy, AKA the "Doing an Ashley (Todd)".

4. The US is in desperate need of real change.
Americans want Democrats to do something about the mess left by George W. Bush and the Bush league GOP lapdog Congress that gave him a blank check during most of these past disasterous 7 years and 9 months. So voters need to give us a fair chance to do exactly that by electing Obama as President, increasing the Democratic majority in the House, and giving us a 60 seat majority in the Senate.

Balance was a casualty of the Bush administration and it can not be restored if Republicans are in a position to stonewall every Democratic initiative, in order to perpetuate their failed rightwing ideologies.

5. Doesn't seem logical to want to give the same group who gave Bush a blank check
the ability to block the other side's efforts.

Because they will. Just as they allowed Bush to do whatever he wanted... they will block Dems at every opportunity.

6. It didn't seem to be a problem...
...when the Republicans controlled everything.

We'll just call it "situational concern".

7. You know what pushed 'em over the edge? Calling McCain erratic.
He was, of course, but calling him that really called out the emperor on his "new coat". They've been flailing ever since, practically doing our work for us.

I kept on expecting McCain to get smart and start shooting for the center again. It would have kept Virginia, Indiana, and maybe Florida in his column--states I'm sure he'll lose now. Plus he would have lost with dignity. As it stands, he's losing much more than an election in a couple of weeks.

9. Hillary's Al Franken ad is the perfect response:
The gridlock has to end, if anything is going to get done.

11. We should just respond by saying the GOP has been in power for the last 8 years
If you want the same incompetent policies that have been guiding this country for the last 8 years then vote for the GOP. But if want to really change the direction of this country then vote democrat.

Americans are not just wanting change they are in desperate shape and the GOP is offering nothing but dirty tricks, nasty rhetoric, fear mongering and race baiting along with a big plate of incompetence.

Obama and the democrats are presenting the voters with hope, optimism, inspiration and solid solutions to our problems. All the GOP can muster is some fucked up crazy chick with a back-wards B carved in her face.

12. Now isn't the time for gridlock, it's the time for action.
That's how we should respond. We need a government that can act to reign in the corporations who are bleeding us dry. We need a government that can restore our middle class and an obstructionist president like mcRacist who would block any meaningful reform - just as bush* has done - will only extend and increase our suffering.

13. We have to fix the damage done by GOP
president with a GOP Congress. It will take an unobstructed path for Demcrats to achieve what is necessary.
