Ridiculous statements by Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma- Thought you'd find this amusing

He was in Ponca City, a city in the north central area of my state.

"Inhofe said he expects John McCain to be elected president, saying that Barack Obama is a dynamic person and everyone is talking about him. Inhofe said the red silk stocking tea sipping crowd may talk like they are going to vote for Obama, but change their minds in the privacy of the voting booth."

<...>

"Inhofe remained true to his conservative roots, pounding home how he had voted on various issues. A member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, he blamed the "Hollywood" crowd for supporting environmental issues, saying they wanted to shut down the use of electricity in American."

2. Red silk stockings?
"Inhofe said the red silk stocking tea sipping crowd may talk like they are going to vote for Obama, but change their minds in the privacy of the voting booth."

Is that some kind of cultural reference or just his fantasies talking?

5. "Blue stockings" used to be what the upper crust, intellectual class was called.
No surprise that rube Inhofe wouldn't get the reference right.

7. Unfortunately he will be
He's ahead of his opponent (State Sen. Andrew Rice) by about 10-12 points. It's been pretty dissapointing that as hated as Inhofe is by progressives nationally nobody (527s) so much as lifted a finger to help Rice stay more competitive in this race.
