www.fivethirtyeight.com

On balance, we see this election as being very flat, but that is incrementally better news for McCain than yesterday's horrible polling day, when he looked to be ceding further ground to Obama. McCain's position has improved very slightly: we now give him a 5.1% chance of winning the election, up from 3.7% yesterday.

I don't know whether to smile or throw something, lol. Maybe I should be laughing?

1. That bothers you?
Relax, it's just a moderate polling day - McCain get's one now and then.

4. Relax and trust 538
Someone might throw something at me, but I think this is the best, or one of the very best, polling sites available. They provided a blistering analysis of the so-called Bradley Effect, and when weird polls come along with unlikely results, they provide concise and well-reasoned critiques.

The odds thing is a bit silly, but that is the price we pay for overpolling. As any survey person will tell you, don't look at one day changes. In any case, I suggest you smile as opposed to throwing something. Really smart folks are still only giving McCain a 1 in 20 chance. And that is BEFORE the polls start to reflect the fallout of the Ashley Todd scandal!

6. He's been kind of a Debbie Downer the last couple days
There was the glowing report on the McCain field operation in VA Wednesday, a little poo pooing of some of the polls taken yesterday and today this.

I think he needs to get laid.
