Extended discussions about Race Never, Ever helps our Candidate, soooo...
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 05:48 PM by FrenchieCat
can we get off of this race shit please? We only have 11 days. We only have 11 days to discuss the hypocrisy of the McCain campaign. The pricey clothes, the McCain assails Bush at the 11th hour, but Bush votes for John McCain next day.

Those who want to deal with this false "B" Girl story should deal with it in context to ask of aksing the media why more attention wasn't paid to the Obama supporter who was assaulted by a McCain supporter. Let the racial aspect be implied by the media and voters.

We really need to start writing to the media about this Biden bullshit. We need to make it clear that if McCain is "tested" we might as well all kiss our collective asses goodbye! Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran!

Really....that is what we need to concentrate on right now.

Here's contact information. Please get started. We can't waste anymore time!

1. Fuck that noise.
1. This is DU, not the Obama campaign.

2. This is a major news story, and it's crippling the McCain campaign.

11. Oh, well, fucking 'eh.
Let's talk about make up.

That's a lot more important than race-baiting by a political campaign.

3. Normally I would agree, but this story highlights the
depths that the McCain will stoop to in order to win. It will cast a doubt on anything else he says over the next 11 days.

5. I'm not talking about that story so much......
which is why linked to the question as to why the story of the Obama supporter being assaulted didn't warrant the same "Breaking News" type of coverage, there is nothing wrong with this story. That's the frame that we, when communicating with the media, can dress this in. Let the media and those following the story imply the racial overtones of it. Voters will make that connection.

What I was talking about was the "Horse/Teeth" story that I read here on DU. I don't think that this warrants much notice.

4. Sorry...
But I don't see a downside to this story being covered.

All it does is reinforce the notion that McCain supporters are kooks. And now with his campaign pushing the story? I think it deserves coverage.

6. I'm not talking about the B girl story so much......
Although the fact that it was a racist move is left best implied by the media, not so much us. See my response on this above.

9. I agree... this is not about Obama, it's all about McCain and the GOP
I don't know how involved the upper levels of his campaign were but at the very least, his and Palin's campaign tactics have created an atmosphere whereby supporters and staffers feel that this type of race baiting is appropriate politicking.

8. Not this time, Frenchie. They were complicit in inciting racial panic and should be punished.
You know that as black people (especially males) we have an uphill image battle in this country. Stunts like this do not help one iota.

10. Read the thread again.....
Again, it's the approach.

The harder we point, the more they will point back.

If we just use a more subtle approach, folks will reach the right conclusion.
