How about Michelle Obama for the Senate?
She is extremely talented, passionate about her causes and brilliant. I think that she would make a great Senator for Illinois. I just love that lady and admire her so...

5. In a couple of years.
Those precious girls need a little stability right now, and senators are very busy. The good thing is that Michelle is still so young that she can raise her family, practice law, and still have time later for - what I believe - could be a very brilliant political career.

7. She's got plenty of time to do whatever she likes. I think she'll be pretty busy
the next 8 years. There's enough work for 3 presidents and 10 vice presidents and 5 cabinets to be done thanks to W, so there will be plenty for her to work on in D.C.

10. No, she's got daughters that need her
I'm sure Michelle will want to spend as much time as possible with them and she should considering dad is going to be VERY busy.

11. Her growing daughters come first with her. Between the senate and first lady
it would be very tough. I don't think she would want it while her daughters are so young.

12. Jean Carnahan was appointed to fill her husbands seat in Missouri
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 03:37 PM by crankychatter
After the late Mr. Carnahan (although already passed on) defeated John Ashcroft.

I was in Missouri that year and yes, I voted for the dead guy.

I see NO reason why this couldn't happen.

IT IS A WONDERFUL IDEA

Now how do we get a movement going out of this in Illinois?

edited to add after reading these posts: Of course Mrs. Carnahan's children were grown

15. Sure why not. But not before 2016.
In other words - not while she is the wife of the President.
