What is a swing state?

Just looked at Politico's election map:

I'm amazed at what states are considered "swing" states. WI, Michigan are included. They show Obama up by 10+% in several.

I'm concentrated on the following:

Hold PA
Take Virginia (or Colorado & NM)

Everything else is gravy.

3. swing states

Swing states are those which either historically have been able to vote one way or the other, or this time are expected to be able to vote one way or the other. Many of the historical ones are pretty solidly for us this time.

As for gravy, I like gravy. I hope we get lots of gravy on Nov 4.
