Let's put Kitty Kelly's book on the NYT best seller list. . .
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 05:18 PM by wndycty
. . .I am uncomfortable fully embracing Kitty Kelly's allegations at this point, however I would love to see the book at its allegations get some press and stay in the spot light for a while. I am willing to buy a few copies of this book. Buying the book is not an endorsement but its a way to draw attention to the book. Your thoughts?

9. Bulk sales anyone???? That's what the repukes do. If anybody...
thinks that "Unfit for Command" didn't get to number one because of repukes buying in bulk, I've got a nice bridge I'd like to sell you.

12. I read her Frank Sinatra book
It wasn't too bad. It isn't written like a tabloid or anything.
I remember reading too, that creepy old Chris Hitchens loved her book "The Royals"

14. All her other books were huge best sellers
I don't see any reason this one won't be either.
I think they are nuts if they think this won't make a big splash.
Kelley is quite the promoter, as is Random House.

18. Sludge sure helped the sales today
#12 on Amazon, in mid-thirties on B&N. BTW on Amazon it was already in the 40's the last 2 days - so people were aware of it. But on B&N it was not very high till today.

Kitty Kelley has a name recognition factor. It will outsell the Swift Boat Liars by a huge margin. And it will sell to women.

I think this one can help!

BTW, where is everyone getting the gay allegations that are supposedly in her book. That's something I hadn't seen yet.

I love the cocaine allegations. That's not hard to believe. Hell we know he was doing coke in his TANG days, but more delicious if it was occurring at Camp David when Poppy was in the WH.

21. The gay allegations . . .
refer to a supposed tryst between a certain Shrub and a fellow Skull and Bones man who went on to become the mayor of Knoxville and (I believe now) ambassador to Poland. This nasty rumor has varying degrees of luridness, sometimes said to involve a secret ritual of the S&B initiation. Also, according to this tale, there are pictures, and the National Enquirer was set to publish them when *conveniently* their Florida headquarters was the target of the first anthr*x attack and their photo editor (!) the first fatality of those attacks, and their building permanently sealed with photos inside.

Now far be it from me to believe or spread such hideous character ass&ssin&tion. I think the pResident is a lying, worthless, shitsack pusbag from hell, but he damn sure ain't no GIRLIE-MAN (see Frank Rich's excellent editorial in today's NY Times, by the way, on the question of how the real sissy in this race came to be seen as the manlier candidate). After all, there's nothing WRONG with a man being gay, is there? And surely this was all before he was married, back in the days of his youthful indiscretions, if the awful rumors are to be believed. But even if there was something WRONG with it, even if being gay somehow undermined, let's say, the moral basis upon which human civilization has been founded, we still have no proof ANY of this is true, and as far as I know Kitty Kelley is certainly not reporting this story, since surely it cannot be confirmed.

No, we must take the high road and *denounce* such terrible smears and assaults on a good man's character, or even on the pResident's "character." We must denounce them loudly and often, insisting that we cannot lend any credence to the horrible innuendo circulating on the INTERNET, of all places, that the pResident is "queer" or "gay," except in the old fashioned sense of those words.

Join me, then, in DENOUNCING these rumors. Let there be no question of where we good democrats, the members of the party of the high road, stand on such matters. The pResident may be a drunk-driving, draft-dodging, AWOL, coke-snorting, car-pissing asshole, but he ain't no faggot.

24. What's Kelley's track record?
I've never read anything by her and just know that she has written a bunch of books about who-cares celebrities, along with (I just saw this delightful listing on Bookfinder) Nancy Reagan: the unorganized biography.

Does she have any journalistic cred? Or is she someone that the right wing truth squadders will be able to shred without straining their IQs too much?

(Another Bookfinder listing was Nancy Reagan, president ven ade Verenigde Staten? Certainly a more provocative title than the American one.)

26. I'll buy this book, anyway. This book is just what we need now.
More negative attention focused on Bush...just as the campaign is kicking into high gear. A distraction for Bush...he'll have to take some tough questions about the allegations in Kelley's book.
