Judy Woodruff keeps trying to insistently hammer Joe with "Kerry said he'd vote for Iraq all over knowing what he knows..."

Lockhart comes back with "No, no, no, no, you have to be careful about what he SAID and what Republicans SAY he said."

I think hiring Joe is a wonderful thing for this campaign.

I have been on the receiving end of a few of the wingnut mass emails that have been making the rounds the past few weeks. And that is the exact premise of all of them, saying Kerry and Democrats said things they never actually said or taking it completely out of context. Then getting the poor gullible souls they are forwarded to all in a lather. Sadly, it works. It is fun hitting 'reply to all' and forwarding what was actually said.

.....it's not right wing vs left wing, nor is it democrats vs republicans, hollywood vs midwest, intellectuals vs blue collar workers, students vs teachers unions, straights vs gays, secular vs religious, christian vs muslim.

It is this administration and global corporate CEO's against ALL THE REST OF US: wingers, freepers, swing voters, DU'ers, apathists, atheists, fundamentalists, young, old -- all of us. Unfortunately, administration lies keep the wingers from realizing this.

95% of Americans are in the same boat here. Hopefully Joe can make that clear. People (yes, including freepers) need to be educated and warned about the BA. Kerry and Joe need to point out that the lies are directed not at swing voters and certainly not at DU'ers. They are meant for the base republicans. Therefore that group should be / could be most upset if shown the truth. Work on them. Like Rove went after Kerry's strength....Go after the RW.

Some Bush surrogate said it last week...they want more turnout from their base...there aren't enough swing voters to really worry about. They think it will be easier to get another 10% of the voting republicans to go to the polling places than to harpoon a significant number of swing voters.

It hasn't taken much to keep that Repub base in the dark. They don't want to come into the light. And we haven't overly impressed them with someone who should obviously be followed.

But the message is: we SHOULD ALL BE IN THIS TOGETHER against a dishonest, power-grabbing, incompetent, dangerous, ideological, corporate administration.

(When the senate was lied to about Medicare, those lies were not directed at the left, they were directed at the Repub members of Senate...they were most upset.)

16. This phenomenon applies to both sides

Kerry opponents constantly say he said or did things that he didn't say or do.

In fairness, Bush opponents do the same thing, although they do it more often and more shamelessly, which is what's so frustrating.

That's why the media is our greatest opponent, since their idea of fair and balanced is to simply report what both sides say about the other with equal weight and no analysis.

If we stack up what they ACTUALLY said and did against each other, we'd win in a cakewalk.

17. Setting the record straight in an effective, strong way

with the media is the best thing Kerry can do. The job now is to expose the * BS factually and without bias.
