Here is the Talking Points memo I think the Repukes sent out this week:
"Okay everybody. We're screwed. We have absolutely no clue what the hell we can do now to turn this around. Everything we've done has blown up in our faces. So your job this week is to go out and say the most absolutely outrageous thing you can think of to sink Obama. It doesn't matter if it has any bearing on the campaign or if it's even true. Just make up a bunch of shit and we'll see what happens. If any of you have any luck, let us know and we'll jump right on that.

Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.

THE RNC

P.S. The dead wildlife, tire slashings and effigies have to stop. Those are not polling well. Don't waste your time and energy."

I'm in utter amazement at the things that are out there this week. Obama wants kids to drop out of school, the VP is in charge of the Senate, liberal feminists hate Palin because she's pretty, Obama is a sexist, liberals hate real Americans, Obama doesn't qualify to be his own Secret Service agent. And of course, the far right wingnuts who think that any second now, there is going to be a birth certificate from either Kenya or Indonesia (I'm confused where) showing he's not a citizen OR Hillary is about to release something to do in his chances of winning right at the last second.

Obama had it exactly right when he called this the "silly season".

1. By damn, I think you've nailed it.
That has to be their 'strategy'! They're just going to throw feces and hope some hits.

5. It is absolutely the only explanation I can think of to explain what is
going on out there. The craziness just seems to be ramping up and each day brings something new to laugh at.

3. One thing I've noticed about the Republicans.......
They have no understanding that just because some tactic worked once or even many times, doesn't mean it will work forever. They are champions of "more of the same".

4. They do go back to the well a few times too many. And the people
took a long time to see it, but now they are really starting to.

I see a whole bunch of tactics out there, but they have never had a strategy, as far as I can tell. I expect millions of trees will lose their lives, to print all the books that will be written to analyze this year's election.

11. That's the definition of insanity
Albert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

6. Republican strategy
At this time in history that can only be considered an oxymoron. I have insisted for a while now that they just don't get it. The internet and computers have changed everything. There are instantaneous responses to any lie they tell, yet they continue to tell them. Anything said in public is recorded for future reference so telling the truth is now the only way to go. There is no where to hide, everything is on wiki. All their past crimes that they thought were long forgotten are remembered when needed. Transparency is the new order, get used to it. I kind of like it.

8. That is one of the things that has amazed me the most. Okay, everyone
says stupid crap at some point. I'd rather listen to someone try to spin their way out of it than outright lie. And too often, even when confronted with the tape, they still insist they never said it.

Another good example of this is Palin's insistance that she was totally exonerated in Troopergate. I can't figure out if they think the public is actually that stupid or if they actually believe the garbage the spew.

9. Obama plays poker. McCain plays craps.
McCain goes with his gut, plays the streak, and double-downs to make back his losses.

Obama plays the odds, reads his opponent, and never bets more than he can lose.

Obama plays a game where everyone starts with an equal chance, but a cool, observant, intelligent man will win, over time.

McCain plays a game that's based solely on luck, that the house has rigged against him. The longer he goes, the more inevitable his loss becomes.

McCain would rather be lucky than good.

Obama is good.

14. And with all that, Dems are still not saying The Serial Adulterer Born in Panama
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 11:05 AM by Overseas
who dumped his first wife because she got too fat after her auto accident...

So I hate the radio and TV pundits who try to tell me "both sides are the same" with their negative ads.

Obama ads are tough but focused on POLICIES AND PLANS

not on The Serial Adulterer Born in Panama who dumped his first wife because she got too fat after her auto accident and he wanted to marry the pretty heiress with whom he was having an affair at the time.
