1. Every endorsement helps.
Hagel could certainly sway a few votes in Nebraska where Obama has a chance of grabbing one of three electoral votes.

4. Yeah, this one wouldn't be as big as Powell's. The Rethugs wrote Hagel off long ago.
He actually thinks the war in Iraq was a bad idea.

Imagine that.

3. Hagel's wife
is an Obama supporter. I don't know if Hagel will come out formally but I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled the lever for him.

It would be a good endorsement. But nothing compared to Powell's.

5. I don't think so - he's against the war and so repubs don't like him anymore and...
...I don't know how much independents know him for his endorsement to influence them.

6. Well, I don't think it would be as big as a Powell endorsement, but
Hagel is a currently-elected Republican Senator and still a friend of McStupid. And they won't be able to make the racial insinuations that the Freeps are trying to do with Powell's support of Obama--so yeah, I think it would be meaningful.

Not with the rabid Repubs but perhaps with those of an more independent view such as thouse drawn to Unity '08 and others who find the 2-party system to be limiting.

9. Helpful, yes, significant is another matter.
I cannot imagine anyone who would suddenly decide to go for McCain because of it, but I can imagine some undecideds who respect his opinion who would go for Obama.

It would be very significant if it ended up turning enough undecideds to turn a state blue, otherwise not so significant to the outcome of the election.

It is significant though as an indication that strong opinions exist in favor of Obama in both parties.

Not too many Dems supporting McCain....

12. Very much so, especially if he does it Monday or Tuesday....
the effect of an endorsement from two respeced Republican veterans would be devastation to McCain.
