Has any major newspaper endorsed McCain yet?
I know that newspaper endorsements historically carry little weight in affecting voters' decisions, but it seems like this is a tsunami of endorsements for Obama, and cumulatively could have a larger impact than just one's local paper's endorsement.

28. It stands for Bush
Go to the Obama endorsements and you'll find Ks--Kerry. It's the candidate the paper endorsed in 2004.

17. Fail! That is not a major newspaper, it's not even the Examiner that we had for years
it's a rag that's dumped for free (and not worth the price) on driveways throughout the San Francisco area. it is not a major paper. all the major papers in the Bay Area endorsed Obama.

This is the paper that misspelled "San Francisco" on its masthead a few years ago --that's what we are dealing with.

Also, the paper's owner has seen fit to make all his other papers endorse McCain.

I lived in SF in the 1990s to 2000, when the Examiner was still respectable.

California:
San Francisco Examiner: readership 80,000

Wouldn't it be more realistic to say that approximately 79,000 of those "readers" put the SF Examiner straight into the recycling bin?

Read the 22+ page list of comments. Lots of "I will be cancelling my subscription..." over this endorsement.

Each time their circulation drops (as it has been), they hand out pink slips, Hopefully the next round of pink slips will be given to the entire editorial board.

One of the best posted comments so far:

Actually, I'm surprised you didn't endorse writing-in votes for a third Bush term (although a McCain administration would be virtually the same thing).

31. Why?
You have a very low post count and you pay money for a newspaper known to be a right-wing rag that you allegedly don't read. I guess we should give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you've recently seen the light and have just not yet bothered to cancel your subscription.

Not exactly unexpected. The editorial board is quite reliably Republican.

Hopefully there will be a tremendous slew of cancellations based on this endorsement, which will further drive down the Copley family's asking price for this POS paper.
