I'll just repeat what it says at the top of the page when you go to post:

GOOD CITIZENS CHECK FOR DUPLICATES!!

Please, you guys. Whether you are for or against the Powell endorsement, WHY the need to post thread after thread about it?

I am posting this thread to ask the MODS to combine some of those threads. The front screen of GDP is a mess with all this Powell stuff
and I'd love to see it streamlined.

That is all.

1. You mean like the umpteen Palin threads we had for days after McCain picked her?
Or during the second debate the 18 new threads that all simply said, "That one?!!"? Nothing was ever consolidated then and it will not be now. Just learn to live with it.

2. I'm hoping for 500 threads
And another 500 about raising 150,000,000 in September.

And another 500 about the cascade of other endorsements that rolled in today.

It is drowning out the bullshit and negativity. OH NOES!

4. Psst: I don't know if you have noticed, but not all of the threads are positive.
In fact, many of them are VERY, very negative.

11. That is fine. It is all about Good News for Obama
even the threads denouncing Powell (and rightly so) for his past activities.

This is not the narrative that the mccain campaign wanted for the start of the end of the campaign. This is a huge Sunday - there are only two more Sunday news yakker cycles before the election - and it is just a cascade of good news for Obama and tired bullshit from McCain. This tuesday we are down to the last two weeks. The clock is ticking.

16. The reason negative posts about Powell are NOT good....
and I have tried to point this out......is that there are a lot of people who come to this site to gain some insight into how the left thinks. They may be leaning this way but need to see something that draws them in. They are not extremists and will not be brought in by negativity of this extreme. And they may be military. Dissing Powell, is like dissing them. If there is one thing that I know about Obama, it is that he is a very decent and forgiving man. This division is not what he is about.

17. I disagree.
Sure 'those people' will find our cornucopia of opinions here from center to way left of center. I honestly cannot find it in myself to be concerned that some small number of fence sitters reading posts here complaining that Powell is a war criminal for participating in the war crime of starting a war of aggression against the nation of Iraq will, having discovered that quite a few of us lefties don't admire Powell, are now going to vote for McCain, where had they learned that us lefties loved Powell, they would have voted for Obama. A far more likely scenario is that the disgruntlement over Powell on the left reinforces the power of this moderate Republican's endorsement of Obama.

But that wasn't really my point. My point was that when we and the media are talking about Powell and his endorsement of Obama that means we are not talking about Bill Ayers, Joe the Plumber, Acorn, or whatever other STUPID BULLSHIT the McCain campaign had planned for this week. Powell has derailed the republican campaign narrative. That was my point. They are all debating the merits of Powell. Good! Perhaps they will ponder the good bad and ugly of this all week. Yeah! McStunt is now totally off message. He is about to suffer an AMAZING MEDIA TSUNAMI as our 150,000,000+ gets spent on media buys over the next two weeks. It is all good. Drown baby drown!

3. I think this endorsement deserves at least 23 threads.
Biggest endorsement of the entire campaign.

8. So I complain about "Palin" threads and "Joe the Plumber" threads
...and I'm told to put a lid on it, but the biggest endorsement of the campaign.

"OMG, I can't take all the good news"

:sarcasm:

(don't worry, 90% have fallen off the page since you posted this, plus "hide thread" is a great option too)

10. "Hide thread" is your friend, be nice if there was an "topic of the day" forum but there isn't.
This happens, just hide threads. Click on the hide thread box and you don't have to see them.

GOOD CITIZENS USE HIDE THREAD!!!

12. We need one "I want to fellate Powell" thread, and one "I hope he croaks" thread.
That should cover all the bases.

13. I say the same thing every other day when...
a new topic pops up that just everyone has to talk about.

And everyone has such earthshaking, incredible, profound insights to the new topic that it demands a new thread. And not just one new thread-- a new thread in at least two forums.

And each new thread gives birth to another new thread with even more profound insights, including the most profound concept of them all...

SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY! We've heard it all already and nobody gives a shit what you think anyway!

Which just makes them talk more.

14. And everytime a big story comes out and this happens somebody posts a thread like this one.
Sorry but it's big news and people are excited. It will die down (note I'm not one of those who posted a Powell thread, but I understand the excitement).

15. Can you define "front page". Front page of DU? Front page of GDP? GD & GDP combined
I just looked on the front page of DU and saw a few.

The front page of GDP has more and many of them are still being discussed - that's what keeps them on the front page of GD-P.

GD-P is for this campaign's discussion.
Powell's endorsement is big news for this campaign.

I think 23 discussions on this day is appropriate - especially if they stay there because of discussion.

There is a little gray box for hiding threads if you don't like big news generating lots of threads.

That is all.
