Powell made me cry

when he said, regarding whether or not Obama was Muslim, the correct answer is no he is a Christian, and the even more correct answer is so what if he is?

But when he told the story of the mother mourning at her sons grave with the Muslim crescent on it, (as a mother who's son did make it home from Iraq)I totally broke down.

Put tears in my eyes.

He gets it. He is usually quiet about politics but this so moved him that he came out and took a stand.

These kind of endorsements matter. But in the end, endorsement or no endorsement what Powell said to stop the xenophobia towards American Muslims was absolutely necessary to defend a maligned community and therefore to defend any community maligned simply for who they are.

Good on ya Mr. Powell. That was wonderful and necessary.

I think the funny thing happening to the Republican party right now is we are seeing those who have the common sense and ability to look at the facts and say "We were wrong." The Neocons never will.
