I'm No Christian
But I believe in repentance -- including Colin Powell's first step in that direction.

1. Ya right.
Powell pushed this country into a war using lies.

A simple endorsement won't erase that deed....not even close.

3. I agree, but it is not 2003, nor is Powell running for anything right now. Just zip it for 3 weeks.

4. Zip it ?
Like Hastert 'zipped it' about Foley just for political points ?

Why should I shelf my ethics and morals for Colin Powell ?

10. Yep. Now that we are on the eve of being back in power..
..us pesky liberals with principles are supposed to go back into the closet, for another 8 years.

8. Agreed
Nothing can ever fully atone for what Powell did to enable the Iraq invasion. Nothing.

Nevertheless, with his endorsement of Obama -- not just the endorsement, but the words he used -- Powell took the first steps on a journey he can never complete.

2. I see it as a first step too - he betrayed this country...
...and I have a feeling Obama will give him the chance to work for us again ~ to redeem himself in our eyes and in Powell's too.

11. I've been mad at Powell for quite some time…
but what he said about the way he sees this country going, what he sees his own party doing to Americans, made me cry. It was heartfelt and powerful. As far as I'm concerned, this is a step in the right direction to redemption. He has clearly rebuked Republicans for their hate speak, and I couldn't be more pleased.
