Obama Volunteer Physically Attacked by Angry Man
by RFDBlog

This is scary stuff! Here in Caledonia, Wisconsin (near Racine) one of our volunteers was physically assaulted by an angry man. 58 year-old Nancy Takehara of Chicago told the story:

"The next thing I know he’s telling us we’re not his people, we’re probably with ACORN, and he started screaming and raving," Takehara said. "He grabbed me by the back of the neck. I thought he was going to rip my hair out of my head. He was pounding on my head and screaming. The man terrified me."

Think about this. Where would this person have ever heard of ACORN? Why would he be so upset? Candidates like to say "elections have consequences." Well, election rhetoric also has consequences.

"This negative stuff has to stop," said Takehara. "We’re all Americans. This is all about protecting our democracy, not about attacking each other."

Here is a link to another article by the local newspaper:
http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/10/19/local_news/doc48fa891c6397b889391842.txt

Here’s what totally freaks me out. If you read the comments on the newspaper article, you see the same hate rhetoric. And worse you see people giving energy to this hate speech by trying to argue in the comments.

And here is what gives me hope. By the time Nancy Takehara got home, there was a message waiting for her from Senator Obama. She called the number back and actually talked to Senator Obama.

"Sen. Obama understood, reassured me, he was wonderful," Takehara said. "It made me feel connected to this government again."

Elections have consequences. Let’s turn all of these right-wing hate mongers out of office and take back our country. Go vote.

2. This is also due to the stuff played
24 hours a day on Fox. That station is so dangerous, it enables people like this man. This entire ACORN story is a fabrication and a fraud that the republicans are perpetrating on Americans.

I got a little scared canvassing in Hammond Indiana. I think I'll go back to Gary Indiana where it's all GOTV and all proObama (basically because the area is so segregated.)

This shit is way to scary.

6. Move this story to Columbus Wisconsin and I would be worried it was
my mother's new husband who was the attacker. It's heartbreaking to read the comments under the article and the people who believe that this man was justified. Jeebus! When is this shit going to end?

8. Obama PERSONALLY called her? Daaaaaaaaamn
I have not ever, not once in my almost 50 years, been moved to tears by a politician. I view all of them with suspicion. I've been behind Barack Obama almost since day one, but in the back of my mind I figured him for just another politician who I thought had the best probability of the bunch of actually bothering with us little people. I am now convinced Barack Obama is the real deal.

My expectations for him are pretty high. Maybe too high. But Barack, wherever you are right this minute, God bless you and God bless every single person who helped shape you into the man you are today.

11. The man is pure class. What a wonderful thing for him to do.
He's going to make decisions that I don't agree with as president, but I believe I will always be able to respect the fact that he gave each alternative careful consideration.

17. Typo, maybe.
The beginning of the article says saturday afternoon.

"CALEDONIA — A husband and wife are dealing with emotions of regret and embarrassment, after the husband pulled the hair of an Obama campaign worker during an altercation outside their house Saturday afternoon."

But then later on in the article it says “Last night’s unfortunate incident in Caledonia was isolated and extremely rare, and we are grateful our volunteer is doing well,” said Phil Walczak"

So who knows??
