What RW tactics have failed and probably won't work in the future?

Seems like nothing they have tried is a "game changer" any more, for example:

Labeling: (Candidate) is a dangerous liberal! (Candidate) is a communist/terrorist sympathizer! (Candidate) is a socialist!

Attaching someone to the candidate: Willie Horton to Michael Dukakis, Gennifer Flowers to Bill Clinton, William Ayers to Barack Obama

National Security: "The bogeyman is coming and only we can protect you!"

Questioning the candidate's patriotism

Taxer: (Candidate) will raise your taxes!

what other tactics are no longer effective?
