I figured out today why I see more McSame signs in yards
and McSame bumper stickers in my town. Its not because its a red state (it is). Its because repugs are NOT afraid to put signs out in their yards or stickers on their cars. They are not afraid that those hated libruls will trash their homes or cars if they show their true colors. They are not afraid of getting keyed for wearing stickers showing their allegiances. They are not afraid of having windows knocked out of their homes or signs stolen from their yards. They are not afraid of being called evil names when wearing their political buttons.

Wanna know why? Because we have MORE FUCKING CLASS than that. We will not stoop to those levels. We BELIEVE in democracy. We BELIEVE you have the right to vote for whoever you wish, without the threat of harm or harassment. WE ARE AMERICANS WHO BELIEVE IN THE THE CONSTITUTION.

2. I've always wanted to beat the shit out of someone defacing my property,
so far no luck. My signs are still up and my bumper stickers are nice and clean. Then again, I do live in Washington state, so it's pretty blue.

14. I hope your business improves, so few dancing teachers......
We had a wonderful studio in my old town, been there for as long as I lived there (24 years) and then the owner/teacher passed away suddenly last year. Now, a tie kwon dough place is there. No class.

And Obama supporters feel no need to steal McCain signs because, as you say, we have class.

5. That's the way it is here in Philly.
At least in my neighborhood. All the white people I know that are voting Obama are afraid to put signs in their windows because of the racist idiots. On the other hand, the racist idiots proudly have McCain signs in their window.

I have an Obama sign in my window and have for months now. My window was spit on one time so far.

8. 4 years from now, those assholes will still have their McCain/Palin stickers on their cars,
right next to their faded W04 stickers! It still amazes me why anyone would still have a W04 sticker on their cars. Shouldn't they be ashamed for anyone to know they supported the asshole?

9. Probably....
I have another theory... The Obama campaign has been really slow
sending out their stuff. I've been waiting at least a month for my
car magnet. I bought my bumper sticker from the county party.
I live in a very liberal area (Ann Arbor) & most of the Obama
yard signs are from the county party not from the Obama campaign.
I think people are having trouble getting their hands on enough
signs & stickers.

10. one reason
the Obama campaign realizes that signs don't win elections. They don't persuade. Obama is focusing on voter contact and voter persuasion. Good for him. Signs are a waste of campaign money and other resources.

15. I put up a sign I made using the resources at the Obama site.
I live in a very red state where I suspect Obama's team decided it wasn't worth the expenditure of money for yard signs and such. I've also heard there's a real shortage of the wire rigs to put them up with. My husband's workplace is having problems getting these things for other uses, so it's real.

Also, I see there aren't so many McCain signs around either. I'd guess they figure they already have this state, so no need to spend the money. I'd love to think there would be a surprise and many would vote for Obama, but I know these FOX people too well to ever believe that. I don't think it's particularly racist, just uninformed.

Speaking of the racial concerns, I went to a matinee of "The Secret Life of Bees" today and the place was packed and at least a third white. That's progress in this area!

Obama-Biden signs are so high in demand that they cannot keep them in stock, and sadly they don't produce enough of them to hand out for free. Plus, the Rethuglicans are stealing them!!

18. Not so in my neighborhood.
For quite some time there were more mccain signs in my neighborhood than Obama signs. It had nothing to do with fear. It had everything to do with the fact that it was simply very hard to get signs. While the mccain campaign made signs readily available, the Obama office generally didn't have signs and while the local Democratic party office has a substantial supply, they limited them to four person (asking $5 per sign). Only after I wrote a substantial check to the local Dem office, and displayed emails from around 30 of my neighbors who said they wanted signs, was I able to get a larger supply, which I then distributed around the community. There are now more Obama signs than mcCain signs.

20. Anyone remember "Wastikas"?
I remember back in 2004, if you dared put something anti-Bush up, people would come by with spray paint and deface them with the letter "W" -- in the manner of Nazi swastikas.

I brought it up here at DU, and it was happening all over the country.

They people really PROJECT on us. We're made out to be these molotov slinging anarchists, when we peaceably assemble to protest (in First Amendment Zones). And what's this with the "spitting on soldiers" thing? I swear, anytime there is a non-fascist rally around here (W PA), there is someone who calls up the media and claims that they are a soldier and a protester spat on them. Every time. Boy, we see a man in uniform, and we shoot hockers at them -- it's a reflex, just like we have in our knees. And the media reports it. Every. Time. Haven't they caught on that this is bullshit? But that's them projecting on us. And now, after they stole 2 presidential election with massive voter fraud and anyone who dared speak of it were silenced or ridiculed, this little ACORN shit comes up, and McCain is calling it the destruction of the democratic process and it's all over TV. It's always easy to tell what they are up to, because it is what they accusing US of.

But moving on...

This year (in W PA) I am seeing yard signs for McCain, but oddly enough, a McCain bumper sticker is RARE. 2000/2004 -- Bush/Cheney were all over the place, making it very easy to identify wackos at a distance.

Back in 2004, a Bush/Cheney yard sign or bumper sticker meant, more than anything, "Fuck You" to anyone who was against the war, or the shredding of the Constitution --kinda like pissing all over something or flinging feces to mark their territory.

(Ha ha -- I remember a skit on Carlos Mencia a couple of years ago, when Peter Boyle said that they only people who had Bush/Cheney bumper stickers on their cars were the people who hadn't figured out a way to get them off.)

In 2008, they're just showing themselves as the crazy few who still buy into the failed political philosophy of Neoconservatism.

24. The fact that there are McCain signs in Alabama
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 10:36 PM by Jake3463
Tells me that McCain is worried enough to ship McCain signs to Alabama to be distributed either that or he has a warehouse full of the shit that needs to get out. Ask a NYer, West Coaster or a person from New England how difficult it is to get an Obama sign up there.

30. yup... that's exactly why I don't have a bumper sticker
I would LIKE to key a car with a Republican/conservative bumper sticker... but I NEVER WOULD. The First Amendment is one big reason why, but I'm also not that hostile.

Most Republicans wouldn't, either... but the key word is MOST.

33. i saw first obama yard sign, .... all the way up lawn at house porch.
mccain signs by curb. the only obama sign, up at the house.

i dont have sign in yard here in texas for that reason, and i know it will be stolen, so why bother. i do have a bumpersticker and have had no problem. got one hestitantly in 2004 with kerry, and no problem.

2006 after dems won, my stickers were a problem. lots of anger and agression, i took them off

today i have an obama sticker and 6 others, i havent had any problem at all.

but forget the yard signs. wont even try with those.
