I wish SOMEONE would explain WHY people wear anti-Palin t-shirts calling her the "c-word"
Repubs. always try to equate those t-shirts with the racist things McCain/Palin supporters yell out at rallies. I wish someone would find a way to point out that McCain called his WIFE the "c-word" which is why some may feel it's fair game to call PALIN the same via t-shirt. I doubt anyone would even THINK to do such a thing if McCain hadn't used that word towards his own wife!

2. It's not acceptable political dialog, from anyone.
I question whether the people wearing those t-shirts are really Democrats. If they are, They should junk those t-shirts and take a long hard look in the mirror.

She specifically said that none were Democrats.

19. I really don't care what party they're from, it's a pathetic thing to do
And she may say they're libertarian, but she knows perfectly that the first thing people will think when they see the picture is 'Democrat'. I bet you 4 voters out of 5 can't even tell you who the Libertarians are running for Prez this year.

17. That story is a dead end
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 06:13 PM by anigbrowl
You're right, it doesn't make McCain look good. But realistically, there's no hard evidence of it, and it (supposedly) happened in 1993. People (as in reachable voters) just Do Not Care about a 17 year old exchange of words, especially not one based on hearsay. That story is never going to get any legs because it's so old and because nobody on the news wants to read out a story about the c-word and because Cindy's had 17 years since then in which she could have divorced his rude ass but chose not to.

weren't using the same word against Hillary a few months ago? Or that they don't routinely use it against women they don't like?

24. I do not disagree with that. It absolutely goes to his character.
But when Democrats wear shirts with that word, it lowers them to McCain's gutter level.

I also agree with you that it is hypocritical and disingenous for Republicans to fein outrage about that word when they, obviously, have no problem with the fact that McCain called his wife a c*nt, which is beyond despicable. Wearing it on a shirt is bad. Call your wife a c*nt is WAY WORSE. WAY WORSE.

And I still don't know how anyone can claim to read the minds of those wearing the shirts.

25. Apologism
Jenmito, with respect, your post smacks of apologism. Did McCain call his wife a rhymes-with-'stunt?' Probably--I understand that three reporters were present at the time. If true, I need not say that that was despicable behavior on his part. But this makes him to blame for the fact that a few revolting boors sport such tees? Please.

Robert

My point is ONLY that if it WASN'T out there that McCain called his own wife that disgusting word, there's no way, IMO, that the few people that wore those shirts (or held those signs) would've even THOUGHT of doing so.

32. Jenmito, the sad fact is that some people don't need an excuse to insult someone else
Maybe they're doing it at as some sort of subtle protest against McCain, but if so it's the equivalent of protesting Dick Cheney by shooting random people in the face. IT's a stain on our political discourse and has probably created a lot more enmity against Democrats than it has against McCain - it's been pointed out to me that these people are supposedly libertarians, but for some reason they didn't bother to mention that on their t-shirts.

Whenever someone uses that word against one woman, no matter how despicable, the word ends up slurring ALL women. None of us should sink as low as John McCain.
