Palin Explains What Parts Of Country Not "Pro-America"
The McCain campaign is seeking to clarify a remark reported from a Sarah Palin fundraiser in North Carolina yesterday in which the Alaska Governor declared that she loved to visit the "pro-America" areas of the country -- implying, implicitly, that there were some parts of the United States she viewed as not pro-America.

The reporter who broke the story, the Washington Post's Juliet Eilperin, sends over the following, extended quote from a more detailed version of the pool report.

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe" -- here the audience interrupted Palin with applause and cheers -- "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories and teaching our kids and growing our food and are fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom."
Not sure how much this helps Palin out. Is the VP candidate saying that small towns are more authentically American than, say, suburbia or cities?

As Eilperin writes: "The upshot? Washington D.C. is neither 'real America' or 'pro-America.' Other parts of the nation? It's unclear, but if you live in a small town, you're probably patriotic from Palin's point of view."

------------

In other words, the Queen Bitch thinks that only the red states are "Pro-American". She must think the Flyer's fans who booed her are un-American too. Message to Palin: Welcome to Philly, Queen Bitch. You may want to avoid New York City and Beantown too.

20. Its scary
The republicans remind me of the pre-WW2 Nazi Party in Germany. They are using Nazi tactics. Only this time, it's not aimed at the Jews. Its aimed at Democrats and anyone that dares to oppose their evil ideas.

19. nah... don't say that
we have good liberals and democrats fighting the good fight in small towns. I know people from small towns and they have brilliant minds. Besides, how does it look for the Democratic Party to have members saying stuff like that.

The point is... people regardless of where they are from love their country. And great minds are everywhere just as small minds are everywhere. I grew up in the city and still presently reside in the same city, and I can tell ya, there are many small minds here.

53. Oh, I lived in one, population 1,049.
Back in 1970, my dad opened a bakery in Redvers, Saskatchewan, where there had been no bakery before. We were from the "big city" of Regina (pop. 140,000 at the time), and we were seen as urban outsiders and never accepted into the community. Rather than buy day-old bread from my father at half price, they would prefer to get the "fresh" bread that had been sitting for a week on the shelf at the Red & White Store.

Stupid, insular, anti-intellectual paranoiacs, all of them, and highly conservative. Their refusal of patronage drove my father into bankruptcy and he died soon after. I hope Redvers becomes a ghost town -- as of 2001, the population was 917.

39. Worse than "Anti-American" is
the LIBERAL LEFT-WING Anti-American. Oh, save me from your hand-wringing, Ms. Palin - we're as American as it gets! We want this to be a Country for ALL of its people - including you and those we disagree with. There are financial and ecological disasters that must be dealt with immediately. We don't have time for your senseless chatter.

Palin and her masters are doing everything they can to tear America apart. They certainly don't want to see an America that wants to end a war(s), bring up the standard of decency for all its citizens (jobs, health care, education, energy independence, saving Planet Earth for tomorrow) and end the inequities of wealth distribution and social injustice that still plague this FINE COUNTRY.

peace...until we all fly together, what sense does it make?

for the military and the other federal programs that the red states take advantage of. Alaska is by the far the worst in this category. All of us are paying more for gas to prop up Alaska's budget. So I guess the more patriotic you are the harder you suck on the federal teat.

aircraft carriers, Marines, bases, etc? Cities like Corpus Christi, Texas, Key West Fl are unpatriotic? What about the commies that are growing food? Or the automobile builders? More marxists? The people that design software or build medical equipment are unpatriotic?

The GOP has gone overboard in encouraging their candidates to run on this. I hope they get trounced soundly and the exit poll comments explain why.

I'll take her up there on the 4th of July and let her take her ignorant words back.
