Oh Noes!! "Girl called racist for wearing Palin t-shirt "
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 05:58 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
This is the thinnest news story EVER, yet was a local television news segment on a Florida FOX affiliate.

The only assertion in the article is, "Twelve year old girl says something." Hard to see any reason for the story at all... except to piss-off some Florida RW types. God knows they're not angry enough yet!

Smoking Gun that this is malicious propaganda: The story claims it was a Palin t-shirt. It isn't. (pictured at link) It's a standard McCain/Palin t-shirt, but murderous wing-nuts wouldn't care about a McCain t-shirt.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- She's only 12 years old but Ashleigh Jones is feeling the heat of this election year. That’s because the seventh grader at New Smyrna Beach Middle School was called a racist by classmates for wearing a pro-Sarah Palin t-shirt. Jones is volunteering at the Republican Headquarters in New Smyrna Beach. The Palin t-shirt was a gift from her fellow volunteers.

But when she wore it to school she learned just how tough politics can be.

“Some of the students were calling me racist because I was Caucasian,” she said. “I wanted the Caucasian man to win. And I told them that’s not true. It’s my freedom of speech, it’s my opinion.”

Jones' parents say they aren't mad at the school they just want everyone including their daughter to voice their opinion constructively. Officials with Volusia County Schools said there were no referrals or complaints to the office about this incident. Ashleigh said that more of her friends are expressing their views by wearing political t-shirts and she plans to wear hers again.

2. Seems like a slow day in Volusia county.. Oh, and how many of our
signs have been stolen out of our yards, or tires de-flated, or any of the other violent reactions these wingers end up doing.. And most likely, the family is a bunch of bigots.

3. Kids that age should not be given political t-shirts to wear
to school. What if she wore an "I Want to Grow Up to be an Idiot" t-shirt? Oh, wait, that would be the same thing.

7. Newsflash: If you say "I want the Caucasian man to win....."
It's because you're a racist. ;)

Caucasian men win all the time. It's not like wanting the African American man to win for the sake of the precedent. THerefore, if you are rooting for the white man BECAUSE he is the white man, you're a racist.

Or you have racist parents and you dont know any better.

And if anyone thinks that's a double standard, well, they can kiss my fat white hiney. :p

8. You misunderstood
She was ascribing that opinion about her to her classmates, not expressing it on her own behalf.
