The Chicago Tribune's endorsement of Obama is one of the best I've ever read for any candidate.

It is simply amazing. Sometimes you get lukewarm endorsements, but this one goes all out for Obama.

Wow.

1. it's more amazing to me they endorsed a Democrat
this has never happened before. They 6 years ago endorsed Ryan who was so corrupt a GOp candidate that people died as a result of his aggressively leveraging campaign money out of his own public employees.

4. This part should be shoved under every one of those McLizard/Failin rally goers' noses,
and they should be made to read.....

<snip>

Many Americans say they're uneasy about Obama. He's pretty new to them.

We can provide some assurance. We have known Obama since he entered politics a dozen years ago. We have watched him, worked with him, argued with him as he rose from an effective state senator to an inspiring U.S. senator to the Democratic Party's nominee for president.

We have tremendous confidence in his intellectual rigor, his moral compass and his ability to make sound, thoughtful, careful decisions. He is ready.

<snip>

(But I forget, most of them probably can't read--so I would be happy to read it all to them.)

10. "...But I forget, most of them probably can't read..."
Clearly that's true, based on the comments from freepers saying they're not surprised that such a liberal paper endorsed a liberal candidate. Uh, freepers, have you ever actually *read* the Tribune? Probably about as much as Sarah Palin has.

12. Wow! Chicago Tribune did
their homey proud especially since they're a conservative paper.

5. The fact that they endorse him at all is still blowing my mind. I haven't even been
able to focus enough to read the endorsement.

9. LOL! I hear you!
I just called my dad and said, "Hell just froze over, the Trib endorsed Obama." He was as shocked as I was.

8. I know, and the idea they'd endorse a DEMOCRAT!
My gosh, they've only endorsed a non-Republican ONCE in 1872, and that guy was originally a Republican who started the Liberal Republicans to run against the corrupt Grant administration!

11. I am shocked - I grew up in the Chicago area
and my parents got the Trib and the Daily News delivered - it was and still is very conservative. That this is a ringing endorsement is wonderful.
