Obama is moving towards filibuster proof Senate mode
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 02:06 PM by LSK
His plans to visit Kentucky and Georgia in the next few days are not about his winning the nomination, they are about the Senate races in those states. He can smell a filibuster proof Senate and is trying to make that happen. I was hoping he would make at least one stop in Kentucky and I am glad he is doing this.

Check out how very close we are to this great accomplishment:

5. Ed Schultz said it yesterday that if we get 60 we can tell republicans to sit down and shut up.

2. This is what I've been saying
whenever this has been brought up. He isn't trying to win Kentucky, and he really only has an outside shot in Georgia. He's trying to extend his coat tails to the down ticket races in those states.

3. 538 gives it a 30% chance on the election alone.
Obama appoints a couple of Republicans to cabinet and that'll be 2 more.

6. Hey Barack ... just remember, we can't count on Lieberman!
So be sure to pick up an "extra" seat or two when getting that majority, ok? :hi:

10. We all have to help out if there's going to be a chance for success
It's a longshot, but the goal is too important to set something less as our objective.
These 6 contests have all been rated close enough to be toss-ups, which means that your donations to these 6 candidates will have the greatest positive influence on the course of President Obama's first term in office that you can hope to exert through campaign money.
We can all do something to help secure a strong Democratic majority in the Senate. A filibuster proof majority would be a dream come true, and maybe it won't come true this year, but the closer we get to achieving it this year, the less we'll have to do 2 years hence.
