40. I'm saying (clearly) that one cannot judge the speaker based on the composition of the audience.
She may be a racist, but the presence of the KKK at her rallies would not be direct evidence or support for such an accusation.

Would you say the Hillary attracted some racists to her rallies in certain states? (she did) Is Hillary a racist?

15. I believe Palin is too narcissistic to be racist
People like her cannot see anything or anybody beyond their own SELF. People like her view other people as steps on a ladder, to be stepped on to achieve whatever it is they are attempting to gain. They don't care if that step is black or white.

I think there's a possibility that she's an opportunist instead. She's definitely using racist themes, but it may be because that is the easiest way to get attention. I think she really is just very self-absorbed.

Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 01:42 PM by Blue_In_AK
she seems to have an issue with Natives, having appointed Whites to positions that previously had been held by Native Alaskans. See, for instance, "Another Palin Personnel Problem" at AlaskaReal http://alaskareal.blogspot.com/2008/10/another-palin-personnel-problem.html.

Writing Raven, the proprietor of this blog, is Tlingit-Athabascan and has a unique perspective on Palin and the Natives.

21. Define "racist."
Means a lot of things to a lot of people.

I tend to be very, very narrow in my use of the term myself; I'd like it to have some value and I tend not to cast it at everyone who's said/done things that are merely racially insensitive.

That's why I ask. What do you mean by "racist?"

23. A racist has different standards for white people than they do for black people.
Additionally, a racist supports an unqualified white person for a given job over a more qualified black person.

27. Well, she and hubby "pal around" with white supremacists, sure.
Perhaps that's enough for her to be deemed "racist" by some. I think it's pretty odious to support the AIP, but I'm not sure that makes her a "racist."

And as for the lines in her speech, please. She doesn't write them. She does what she's bloody well told.

Or, about Dominionists, like Eric Prince of Blackwater.

47. The Pastor Muthee thing makes me think, No. She's Strom Thurmond in heels.
She is ambitious and wants power that dominates all. That's why she will use ANY means necessary to ensure she wins the seat. It's not about race, or ethics, or honor, or values...it's about power and dominance---she will use her looks, sexuality, make any unethical connections, lies, deception...just anything to do it. So even if she's anti racism...it means nothing because she will use racist tactics to get ahead, that doesn't mean she's racist in the explicit sense.

53. Exactly. Although he was an advocate for racist ideology and thought.
He was just getting votes really. But people identified him as such and he believed strongly on segregation or so many people thought.

Then it comes to be known not only he has a half Black daughter but he was actually very loving and supportive of her. The daughter actually said, besides having a rather odd family life, he was proactive and a good father. Shocker of all shockers.

Palin is similar to him. Just someone who will use anything, no matter how deplorable, to get power or where they need to be.

52. She is now because she thinks it gets votes. Maybe not after Nov. 4.
She seems more an opportunist who wants to advance herself with anything that works. Not a person you would want to depend on for anything. And, she is very scary because she may have no limitations on what or who she will use to advance.
