Should Obama get out in front of this Powell endorsement?
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 11:14 AM by Bob D
Since it seems there is plenty of reason to doubt that he will endorse Obama (this is being leaked form republican sources, Powell has already donated over $2k to McCain in the Primary), should Obama's campaign make a statement to minimize any damage come Sunday? Something like, "We have not heard from Mr. Powell that he is planning on Endorsing us. We would welcome it if true, but we would be surprised as he is on record as a strong supporter of Senator McCain."

2. Why would Obama want to give Powell any extra attention
if he endorses, great, if not there is an election to be won.

3. Off topic, but is that David Tennant in your avatar pic?
Hard to tell since it's so tiny.

13. He sure is one of the prettier Doctors
I haven't seen the latest season yet. I hear the finale was a doozy, sort of a companion blowout.

Sad to hear they'll be on a sort of hiatus for a bit. Hopefully Dr. Who comes back strong again after next year.

5. Maybe Powell can draw stick figures of McCain and Palin and....
point to them and say..."I'm voting for 'those ones'.

7. What?
What is it with all the people posting here all bent out of shape over what Powell will or wont do?

Obama should do nothing about Powell. Powell is a life-long Republican. Powell is a disgraced collaborator in one of the worst military blunders in our nation's history, a public liar of the worst sort. Why are you so concerned?

9. Democrats don't care what Powell thinks.
Repukes will just assume that he's endorsing Obama because he's black.

It's meaningless. Powell is old hat.

14. No. For me, Powell became irrelevant he joined this admin and
made the presentation to the UN, that he knew was false. When he left office his credibility/reputation was in tatters. He's not done much to redeem himself IMO. Whether he endorses McCain or Obama is irrelevant. His coyness over who he'll endorse is crap - what's he need 15 more minutes of fame?

Powell is a republican. If he endorses the republican candidate how does that damage Obama?

17. If he is endorsing Obama..
I'm sure the Obama campaign already knows it, and will remain silent, if he's not then I'm sure you will probably see a precursory statement like that coming out.

BTW I wouldn't discount it just because there are republican sources, there are plenty of repubs out there who are pissed at McCain right now. My understanding is that he donated to McCain back in 2007, before Obama had the nomination and has not donated since, so I wouldn't use that as evidence either.
