1. Joe Biden was polite and cool as a cucumber
and managed to be classy and said nice things about Sarah Palin and John McCain. McCain is a transparent troll.

22. Letterman is ripping him apart, he has hammered him on Sarah
Palin's qualifications. He asked McCain about William Ayers and after McCain did his little thing about paling around with terrorists he hit him right back with paling around with Gordan Liddy. He handled him like I would like to see one the so called MSM journalists do just once.

27. No it's not you just said you can't believe
anyone watched McCain and not Joe. I saw part of each and believe me you should have watched Letterman handle McCain.

3. Who cares? Both will be up on YouTube in a matter of hours (if that).
People are hardly making an irrevocable, life-and-death situation here.

if it were, people could have watched Letterman on youtube as well.

12. And those who watched Biden can.
I'm not exactly sure what the point of this is. If you're on DU, your mind re: this election is likely made up, and isn't going to be swayed by an interview with a late-night comedian.

they had a campaign question skit, and it wasn't that funny, but they had an Obama impersonator...but that's all I'm saying...;-)

5. I was trying to switch back and forth. Biden was much more entertaining
(no surprise), but I was really hoping Dave would let McCain have it. He let me down. I've caught more shit for being late to a dr appt.

7. DVRs are quite handy.
... anyway, you know the routine ....... when it's time to watch Joe, I'll dim the lights, put on something more comfortable and sip a glass of wine, so I can take in every inch of Joe's vice presidentiality!

I wanted to be 100% sober and alert for McCain's spiel. ;)

11. Of all the things to say "wow, just wow" about this ranks real, real low on the list.
Like someone said, you can see it all on YouTube. Nobody is obligated to watch things live anymore.

14. Well, I prefer not to watch in a 4" box, instead of a 40" HDTV.
So there. Joe looks much better at 40" than mccrap does. Joe's more important that mccrap too. At least to me....

25. We all know that Joe was going to be the nice guy he is,
I think most of us wanted to watch what Letterman would do to McCain. That's pretty simple to understand. I think Joe would understand.

17. Uh, no, he's not.....
Jay Leno says, “I’m not conservative. I’ve never voted that way in my life.” He “really worries” what a Dubya victory in November will do to the makeup of the Supreme Court. He believes “the wool was pulled over our eyes” with the Iraq war. He thinks the White House began using terrorism “as a crutch” after 9/11. He feels that during the campaign Kerry should “make Bush look as stupid as possible.” He believes “the media is in the pocket of the government, and they don’t do their job” so “you have people like Michael Moore who do it for them.” He has on his joke-writing staff a number of former professional speechwriters for Democratic candidates. “No Republicans.” When it comes to Bush, he doesn’t think his politics are much different from Letterman’s. “Does he show his dislike maybe a little more than I do? Probably.”

30. He may be be but he never hits them with any hardball
questions, I guess he is just a nice guy. Letterman can be an ass sometimes but you have no doubts about where he stands politically.

When I was 19, I considered myself a "liberal" but had some damned wrong-headed ideas that I'd be ashamed to admit to today.

24. He's not a part of my nightly viewing, but when one of our candidates
is on, I think I can sit through 15 minutes of it. I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't rally care what he thinks. I watched just for Joe.

If you live in Austin and use Time Warner, then you don't get NBC until they work out a negotiation with KXAN.

He's one of the lamest assholes I've ever seen on the TeeVee. I have no idea why he has a show. He's never uttered anything even remotely humorous.

23. I watched both, flipping channels.
I think they were both fantastic fir Obama. Letterman made mclame look defensive and petty. He question mccain again and again on the hard issues of his abusive campaign and repeatedly dismissed mclame's predictable answers. Boden was fantastic on Leno, so it was a great night fir Obama! It was obvious the audiences were strongly on Obama's side.

32. There's this wonderful invention called a DVR
Or VCR if you're a little technologically behind. Also Youtube. Besides, watching Letterman grill McCain is more interesting than watching that dope Leno kiss Joe's ass.

33. Much as I support Biden, I'm not passing up the oppurtunity to see McCain fried by Letterman
Biden I'm sure did a wonderful bit, but it was infinitely better to watch McCain get his ass handed to him by Letterman. Dave absolutely nailed McCain on the whole Ayers/guilt by association thing by simply asking McCain about his ties with G. Gordon Liddy, including the fundraiser that Liddy threw for McCain. Priceless political television.
