Hey Keith! Thank you for apologizing for "Calling them Old Ladies"...
Edited on Thu Oct-16-08 09:30 PM by KoKo01
My MIL and my Aunties for Obama accept your apology. The correct word, KO is "Elderly" Ladies attacked Obama supporters at Palin Rally.

All those "Old Ladies" who watch you are thinking about when they were out there protesting against Iraq Invasion and who fight for Womens Rights and the Enviornment and Volunteer at Polling Places and do many good deeds on both sides of the Aisle.

I'll pass along your apologies to my family folk. After all, sometimes everyone over 40 can look "old" to someone. :D

1. 65 is not elderly
Elderly is 80. Sixty-five is "pre-seniors" or something. After all, those who came of age in the sixties are THE rock and roll generation -- the generation of the Beatles, the Doors, the Rolling Stones. It's just wrong to call them ELDERLY.

You'd prefer: "Old Ladies beat up young Obama Protestors?"
rather than "Elderly?" :eyes:

4. Well....whatever he apologized three times...so I guess he got some instant feedback.
So, maybe my MIL and her buddies got after him.

6. Hey speak for yourself.
I am 67 and regularly refer to myself as an "old lady" or an "old woman"....you and yours prefer "elderly"??????? Why? The visual of "elderly" is really, really, really, really old. The visual of "old woman" is something else all together...it is connected with wisdom that comes with years of living. I am sure it is the same with men....old man is a good thing, but elderly is well.....just not at all a good thing. The visual for elderly is frail and living in a facility or soomething. Just call me a proud and happy and fully alive old lady any day.

8. Maybe he should have just said: "Older Women"...but, I think he
was going for the "Old Ladies with Umbrellas" kind of image...which was pretty funny, really. But, I could see why some might get upset.
